Good morning and Happy Weekend to those of us for whom weekends end something about the week!
Hubby's bloodwork is perfectly normal --- except for one factor. Which, if it's abnormal, other things should be. So unless he's got one weird-ass medical zebra (see below)? More bloodwork, more waiting to see if it self-resolves. He also had slightly elevated liver enzymes at the ER, which isn't uncommon with gastritis, but by all means, more bloodwork. *sigh* Then? The blood specialists (hematologist). Yes, he could have leukemia. I would prefer to go hardcore and get that ruled out *first* but... nope. And, of course, if you wait around to find out if it's leukemia or such? .... ARGH. So, y'know, yeah, that was fun.
What was *NEW* was having the doc pronounce "normocytic" so weird I had no idea what he said. Not an accent, just how he said it. It sounded like hormal. Where that H come from?! And the L?
Oh, and a new GI med to speed Hubby's healing. Dexilant. Gee, shocking, right? Sorry. Just --- I'm meant to be thrilled this possibly-Hubby's-new-GP guy realized that Pepcid isn't the best option for freaking gastritis?! *headdesk* times ten, all. I've been on every GI med *except* Dexilant, and taht's b/c I have been blessed to get good to excellent results with Nexium use, but geez.
And this also was *NEW*: Hubby's reaction to being told he has to expect it to take up to 6 weeks to totally heal his GI tract.
Let's just say, I knew that reactoin was possible, but last seen in 1991, Homecoming Weekend, college, and he doesn't remember much of that weekend, but it went down in legend for him almost getting banned forever from a particular bar. He'd have been only the 3d person so honored.
"Tantrum" aobut covers it, minus the booze this time.
He's tired of being sick. He doesn't want more doctors. He doesn't want wah wah wah kick kick shout yell red-faced, and there I am just thinking, "Why're you giving this shit to me?"
Now, we know about "ARGH" ranting.
Folks, this was "WAH!" ranting.
His man-parts? The urologist will fix. WILL fix. Not might. WILL.
His GI tract? WILL heal. Not might. WILL.
His bloodwork? OK, that one's weird. And that's the one he ignored.
ZEBRA: a med school term I learned. "When you hear hooves, look for horses, not zebras." Sometimes, however, it's a crazy-freaky horse, or, of course, a zebra... (that is, something exotic/odd). Or a mule. (I think of fibro as a mule. Not a horse, but not a zebra, but damn stubborn.)

"So, other than that, Mr. Booth, the play was lovely," said Mrs. Lincoln.

And on that note, b/c this was cute to me (meerkats, btw, altho' otters in a cuddle are also adorable):

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Well, our drought isn't broken but our gutter is. Got two big storms rigth after each other and, wait for it, a tornado warning. Now, I was already running for my go-bag when I heard thunder. The air felt wrong. The sky was getting a color to the west. Been there, lived that, time to hide.No funnel touched down but the radar indicated rotation, and boy was it visible from the ground. Different...

I am babysitting today for the two littles. I’ll color with the 5 yr old while the baby sleeps. They should be home around 12:30. Then I’m babysitting again this evening. It’s probably good for me to get out. Even though it doesn’t feel that way. I decided I want to be a hermit. I’ve had it with everything. Except I do love seeing my grandkids. So that will be ok.
My arms are still hurting. That is getting old, but we don’t have the luxury of stopping hurting.
Good weekend to all.
Ida cuddle those little ones :)
I am still drained from yesterdays therapy (its in a seperate post) i am hurting horribly the weather went back to fridgid and its also damp feeling and UGH *screams* I am so sick of fibro and chronic pain! I am sick of depression and anxiety and sighs thats all i have today i got nothign left in me right now
Ida, enjoy the grandkids!
Just read my blood work i got done yesterday, my vit D level we found out 2 months ago was almost nothing? only went up 2 points with the highest pill form by prescription and by now should be normal so that means shots i am sooooo tired of shots, i take 4 a day for insulin plus poke my fingers 4 to 5 times a day on a good day 6 yesterday cuz i had a crash plus i take shots for migraines. and my white counts quite high for me but i feel like i have a sinus infection but i see my dr monday.......... Everything else is good and uric acid level is finally dropping after over 3 months of having a gout flare
ida, I think most men couldn't handle fibro, that's why I have the great respect for the men on this board. I hope you enjoy the grandkids despite how exhausting and hard it can be. I know how it is, we love spending time with them, but we also know how much we are going to hurt afterwards. Healing hugs and love
Angela, I'm glad everything else is good, I hope they figure out why the white count is high.
I need to make this fast. We are taking the girls to a free guitar lesson this morning. My husband plays and his guitar center is giving free lessons today and he though the girls would have fun. I need to get groceries at some point, and I just found out about a birthday party for my husbands nephew. I may not get any rest today, I'm not too happy about this.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Pissy fibro day yesterday. The pain load makes my brain neurologically and psychiatrically abnormal. It's hard to go outside, to drive, to deal with other cars, people, parking lots. I just want to retreat home and medicate in a quiet place. I went out at noon for a half hour and felt like I'd been through WWIII.
I think that my fibro has worsened over time.
When I got home, I had to take my usual cocktail (by the way, this is called the Houston cocktail, a combo i discovered for myself). A little methadone, a little muscle relaxant and by god, a little clonazepam (valium type drug). That last one is what tones down all the pain and the accompanying ""neuro-storm."
I have been a bit down the last few months regarding the ongoing estrangement from my son and grandchildren who live 3 miles away. Haven't seen them in 14 months. I have sent an apology letter,
I have sent them all gifts and cards and have received thank you cards and an occasional text back. I think they want a distant relationship with me.
My son tells me that his wife (who i think has OCD) is very difficult and who says I make her nervous. I am making progress accepting that this is what it's going to be for now, maybe for a long time and to curb my thinking about it, which is an absolute waste of time, of life.
I miss those kids so much. I talk to my cat in my granddaughter's little voice and try not to cry.
Lurking religiously and keeping my fingers crossed for all of you.
Twin, big soft purrs for your weekend.
And on to the... uh.... yeah, two loads of launcry tomorrow. I can't face it today.
Leo, I agree with Ida and Twins about husbands avoiding doctors. But LOL, that they get one problem, most of the time temporary, but expect the world to revolve around them. My husband has strained a few things over the years while surfing (eg. back, leg, shoulder)... the pain usually only lasts about a week or so and then he's back to normal, but he can hardly endure it. He wouldn't be able to handle something chronic like fibro either lol. And actually admitted to me kinda recently that I make him feel like a wuss. That was music to my ears.
The zebra issue reminds me of Hershey's..... her blood-work was perfect except for signs of inflammation which the vet *assumed* was her stomach lining from all the vomiting, so she ignored it. But Hershey got sicker (weaker), I brought her back in, repeated labs, healthy again except for that puzzling inflammation. So she did the ultrasound on her belly, not expecting to find much (other than maybe she swallowed a foreign object) and to our shock, it's lymphoma. I pray to God it's not a similar situation that you guys are facing... and I hope he rules it out, if so.
In the meantime.... I hope he stops freaking out about those curable things. Sigh. He's lucky. Some of us here have permanent gerd, swelling in areas, fibro cystic breast disease, bla bla bla.....
I finished the painting yesterday and got mailed!! Thought I'd go to bed early to make up for the previous night, but had trouble falling asleep because I was anxious about the painting and judging, etc. I will post a picture in my journal. I did get some sleep, though, just need a bit more lol.
We never ended up ordering a sugar cane juicer because hubby didn't want the burden of maintaining one. But found a sugar cane booth at the farmers market who will juice your harvested cane for $10. So, hubby just left to drop it off and we'll go pick it up when it's done.
I never heard back from that friend of mine on Oahu who said she was coming to visit this weekend. Now I'm worried she perhaps changed her plans without telling me.
Back in a little.
Meanwhile, a CT was done on Hubby of his abdomen at the ER, so that helps us rule out a lot of stuff. *whew* Just wait and see.
Ida try to rest between babysitting gigs. I find that children have a way of helping us forget our worries for awhile. I hope you can let down and enjoy them.
Angela therapy wears me out too. It is so draining. I hope you can rest today and take special care of yourself.
Twins guitar lessons would be fun for the girls. I hope you all enjoy doing something new together. Wow you have a lot to do this weekend. Of course you always have a lot to do lol. I hope you find some down time to rest.
Shakota I am so sorry things have not improved much where your son is concerned. My son hasn't talked to me in years so I understand your pain. All one can do is pray that someday they realize how much we mean to them. Gentle hugs.
Blue I loved the painting. I just know that the place receiving it will love it too.
I am going to spend some time with my daughter at noon today. She is waiting for the insurance to ok the MRI. I don't understand why everything takes so long. In the meantime she and me has to sweat not knowing what they found. I am going to try to reassure her and hope that she can concentrate on her work till she can get it done.
I hope you all have a good day.
Ida and Shakota... I'm with you, it can be too overwhelming out there on our sensory system and pain. That's one reason why we moved from Oahu, the city, to here in Maui a more rural island. When our fibro is firing, we need peace and quiet... no commotion.
Angela, do you get any sun in your area? I heard some sunbathing is the best way to get your vit D.
Twins, send *him* to get groceries? Why must we (wives) be the fixers of all crises. *facepalm*
Shakota, that's sad about your son and his wife.... it doesn't sound like it's you, but them.
Autumn, yeah insurance and doctors have no idea how much additional stress / depression they add to our lives. Thoughts and prayers approval comes quickly!
