Hey, all. I've decreed myself a day off.
How's that going? Well, it's 820AM my time, and I've already taken care of many cats, tidied the kitchen, listed the to-do tasks for the next 7 days, and somehow put away the underwaer of a fully grown man known as Hubby, while in pain, on 5 hours of sleep.
And this IS a day off by my standards. (BTW, I needed the laundry basket, or the underwear of Hubby would have stayed where it was. As is, da*n near wound up in the trash along with all contents of the house that aren't furniture!)
Has anyone else hit that point? They just want every surface clear, and if it means filling every trash can in a mile's radius, so be it, and who cares if it's something with sentimental value, to he** with it?
Oh, good. A new task. Keep my temper. *headdesk* Sure. No problem.
I know y'all know me here. In real life? I now spend a lot of time translating Medical into Everyday, for people I don't know, who think I'm full of shi* b/c I'm not on the news, and right now, with the virus? I'm running hard. Somehow, I am the Translator/Advocate for half a dozen neighbors, a dozen of my mom's neighbors, and whoever they tell to talk to me. Currently, I'm juggling e-mail alerts from infectious disease specialist (thanks, FIL, I wanted *him* to handle these people, not have him inform me more what to translate)... People angry, people scared, people who think I can figure out their unemployment benefits (my state has a hotline number, please, if your state does, call it or your US Senator and make it look good for the press, that's your best bet right now, not me!) ... I'm ready to fall down, frankly, and that doesn't count sewing masks (down to the last two, no more fabric and the store is closed)... And the usual roundo f life.
I signed up for this when I became a medical nerd a lifetime ago. I know that. But dang, I could use a long sleep and a weekend off.
And I'm now taking care of MORE CATS. Some dipshit --- forget asterisks ---- in my neighborhood heard cats can get coronavirus (yes, it usually gives them GI issues, IIRC, it's a different coronavirus entirely from Covid19) and won't let their cats back in the house! I'm up to... crap, let me think... Four new cats. For lack of names, I'm calling them Inky Blinky Pinky and Clyde (PacMan reference for us 1980s kids). Inky is black, Blinky is older, Pinky is a bicolor, and Clyde is foofy.

So this is what I got up to the other day! Pix of custard, jam, and little bits of puff pastry (homemade "rough" puff, which is easier but still never worked for me before)... The stuff on the left in one pic is nutroll filling, for a Slavic nutbread that is my all-time favorite. If you asked me to choose between it and chocolate? I'd actually stop to think about it.
Let's all pretend we're having a nice bit of puff pastry topped by jam and custard (for Brits, Aussies, etc., think "jam roly-poly"), or nutty goodness on pastry. With a nice calming cup of something. And a foot massage.

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...
I'm still feeling tired and unmotivated. I still need to work out, cook, clean, and walk Miki. I want to work on a wood burning piece I started yesterday, not a commission, this ones just for me. I managed to find Koshkas food at a local store so I will need to pick that up this weekend-they're only doing curbside pickup, which is fine by me, and it's supporting a small business. If they let people order online and pickup in store going forward I might keep doing it, they're right next to the gym I go to for spin class and it was the same price as chewy. I think bf is going to come over and work on my vanity this weekend, it got put off while he was really busy with school and I didn't have much time either but now we both have a little more free time. I've been grappling with whether I should see him or not, he's staying home other than getting groceries (his job actually sent out a memo that anyone who ignores social distancing guidelines will be fired), and is taking this very seriously. If anything I'd probably expose him. But I know we technically shouldn't see anyone we're not living with..
Leo, those look delicious! I wish I had your baking skills. Of course, that would mean actually doing some baking, right? lol
Miki, I get ya on the unmotivated. I've been looking at clean laundry for two days now. I really need to get it folded and ;put away.
And there you have my main goal for today. Fold laundry, put it away, straighten up the kitchen, maybe bake something to use up the box muffin mixes I have in the pantry, and watch some TV. I have a couple of movies recorded so I have something good to watch.
Hoping everyone has a good day!
I broke my little toe in two places on Thursday and I am not sure I didn't break some other bones in my foot. My toe is a pretty shade of purple and my foot is swollen. I hobble around the house trying to get things done.
I go outside just to keep my sanity. Don't worry though cause I wouldn't let a person within a football field of me. Now it is going to rain for the next two or three days so there goes my sanity out the window. I hope you are all finding ways to let the stress out in a positive way. I cry. It is better than said bat I spoke of.
Hope you all have the best weekend possible. Stay in stay safe. Barb out.
