Good morning, rather late, from the puma.
There is much that can be said, but to be honest, I am in a lot of pain and PTSD stuff, so I'm gonna cut to the chase and go for trivia.

In 1923, in Munich, the Beer Hall Putsch was put down by soldiers loyal to Germany's democratic government. The Putsch began the evening before, when Adolf Hitler and some of his pals took control of a beer hall in Bavaria, at gunpoint, holding hostage several political leaders in the process. (That being his point, in fact.) He was at that point a shmuck who was part of the nationalist party and its "Kampfbund" (an alliance of like-minded patriotic and military and such types), but rose to national prominence after the Putsch.
The Munich Putsch was no small event. Bavaria was (and remains) a part of Germany that fancies itself not really part of Germany, and its leaders were not in agreement with the central German government of the time (the Weimar Republic). What with one thing and another in Hitler's life, Germany socioeconomics and similar, primarily nationalist sentiment combined with post-WW1 economic crunch and cultural disgust with Germany's treatment as the loser of aforesaid war.... Well, Hitler realized his boss of the moment was not realllllly going to go the distance against Germany's central government. So he walked into the beer hall with about 600 pals (beer halls were essentially where you went to have social and political events alike), jumped on a chair and held everyone hostage at gunpoint after dramatically declaring the Bavarian government deposed. He then delivered a speech about how they had to all stand agains the "Berlin Jew" government of Germany and the "criminals of November" (referring to those who signed the Treaty of Versailles), and the crowd went from scared to cheering.
Among those with Hitler in the putsch, arrest, and imprisonment are such familiar names in history as Hermann GOring and Rudolf Hess. Yes, *that* Hess and *that* Goring.
In his five years in prison, Hitler penned "Mein Kampf".
On th emorning of November 9, 1923, btw, Hitler and his buddies realized that, having done all this declarative drama, they had no idea what ot actually *do*, and someone suggested they march, and thus eventually sorta figured out they had to march *somewhere*, chose the Ministry of Defense, whereupon gunfire broke out. Four police and sixteen Nazis were killed. Minor injuries slowed down GOring, who esacped, and Hitler, who as I mentioned was tried and convicted of treason and did time in prison.
If this sounds all confusing, consider that it was. Angry people demanding things be better but having no clue what they'd actually do about it tends to result in chaos. Of course, we all know Hitler got quite a lot figured out in prison, and he and GOring and Hess went on to be famed Nazi names and so forth. At the time, however, it was more or less trying to figure out which mob of scared angry people was going to rule, and rule what, and ... Well, y'know.
Goring ewnt on to commit suicide after being convicted of crimes against humanity. He somehow obtained and ingested cyanide the night before he was to be hanged. Hess, to whom Hitler dictated "Mein Kampf" (my struggle), eventually fled to th eUK in WW2, was arrested, and after the war was also convicted, and sentenced to life. He died of suicide at age 93, in 1987, in Spandau Prison. Hess is probably best known for claiming amnesia during his trial at Nuremburg, which no one believed then, and he admitted later was a lie.
After Hess died, Spandau Prisonw as torn down, to rpevent it becoming a neo-Nazi shrine.
This is rather all dull, I'm sure, but the same day in 1938 (fifteen years later), came Kristallnacht, in which Jews were targeted by Nazi soldiers and fellow German citizens, their homes and business damaged if not destroyed. The final tally for dead and harmed at the time was about 91, all Jews, but the pogrom led to about 30,000 Jews being rounded up and deported to "camps". Kristallnacht marked the beginning of what eventually became known as the Holocaust. People used sledgehammers to destroy buildings owned by or used by Jews, including hospitals and schools. No, the police did nothing. Assumign the police weren't in there swinging with the rest, that is.
Kristallnacht is the shorthand for "night of broken glass", although other names for it in German include Pogromnacht, Reichspogromnacht (state program night (against Jews)), and simply Novemberpogrome.
The full extent of Kristallnacht extended itno German-held territories (modern Czech Republic, Austria, and parts of modern Poland).
History does love symmetry. Hitler fails 9 November 1923, and his policies win 9 November 1938. Nothing like mass murder to wipe out a previous failure.
Speak of, symbolism crops up again. On this date in 1989.... East Germany opened its borders to allow free travel to (and from) West Germany.

Peaceful day to all,

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

... observed a solar eclipse.

ida, thank you. I'm glad you got cookies baked, but I can't believe how much your sleep is messed up. I'm glad you get to stay home and rest, I hope your rib pain eases up.
Angela, I can't believe you can't eat or drink and you aren't in a hospital. I'm praying for answers! Hugs
bbmom, great news about Sonny, but sorry he can't play video games. I have 3 boys in my life that can't live w/o them so I understand the torture. LOL. Thanks for the hugs, gloves, and chocolate. I will take them all gladly. :-) I hope you aren't getting a cold.
Fantod, how frustrating, I'm sorry it lost most of it. I hope your day is better now that we have all of your chocolate. hehe
I got Addison into the doctor fast this morning, and she does not have a bladder infection. Just needs to wipe better. For a child with so many skin sensitivities you'd think she wipe the darn thing so dry afterwards, but nope. Anyways, lots of work to do.
Kel, gentle hugs.
Twin, oh geez. I love Blue's idea of the market glvoes. If you know anyone who knits, they can make some for you, maybe?
Blue, please, do not dismiss it as fibro. Groin-hip-pelvis injuries are my specialty since 2011. Rest, crutches, healing, okay? No "pushing" through.
Bball, about time Hubby takes a shift!
Oh, no, Fan! DS gnomes got you! AIeeeeeeeeee....
If I missed anyone, I'm sorry, it's that kind fo day.
Hi WNB....and patti.
Good to see you here, Fantod. Sorry your post went flying off somewhere. Hope you are having a good day.
Sorry for your leg pain, Blue. I sure hope you get your cake. Praying your tooth feels better soon.
twinmom, glad Addison isn't sick. Kids....they just don't get that cleanliness thing.
My ribs are in a tremendous amount of pain. I took a 2 hour nap with the warming shawl around my middle, but I'm still hurting. I tried folding some laundry, but that didn't go so well. I have 2 loads left to fold. I need to pack my bag, also. My granddaughter invited us to come and hear her sing in church on Sunday, so I am driving down there on Friday afternoon. Hubby will meet me at their house. My friend is going to serve my food for church for me. She is a pal.
Have a low-pain day, all.
Fantod, I hope your day is going well even though your post gotten eaten.
Blue, I hope he gets you a cake. It is the least he can do for being a PITA most of the time!
Good news from home. Sonny feels 10x better than yesterday! The kid still has a long road ahead, but I will take any improvement! Tomorrow I make the 3 hr trek to get my daughter and her friend. Her friend is from NYC and hasn’t really seen country life, so this should be interesting!! Then Friday she sees the podiatrist (and hopefully I get my ankle braces that insurance approved) and sonny sees the orthopedic doc. I won’t be surprised if they send us to a bigger hospital that deals with peds. They did that the last time he hurt his other elbow. We are getting Chinese takeout for dinner. I am thrilled. Tonight I need to strip my daughters bed and wash all of that, because the dog sleeps there now. However her friend wants to sleep in our camper. They will probably be more comfortable there anyways. There are full size bunks and there is heat.
Take care all. If I don’t have time to chat tomorrow, please know I am thinking of all of you.
I hope your ribs feel better before your drive, Ida. I have found when I have costo that it even hurts to breath. Do a little as you can. I will be thinking of you. I need to google your warming shawl. I need one of those. My sis got me a fleece shawl for work, which is nice, but a heated one would be better. Please take care of yourself. Is your allergic reaction doing better?
Leo, so sorry you're hurting. Thank you for getting up despite the pain to initiate the check in. You are amazing.
Kel, the ugly FFF rearing its head. Please take care of yourself. Don't overdo it preparing the house.
Ida, my ribs are killing me too. It does hurt to breathe, I've given up doing much because of it. Did paint nephew's quilt with glow in the dark paint and now, I'm done for. Enjoy the performance Sunday. I love to hear kids sing. (I used to be a children's choir director.)
Blue, happy second birthday! I'd make you a cake if I lived there. Sending you one in thoughts and good wishes. You deserve it! I'm praying all goes well with mom coming.
BB, glad sonny is feeling better. Now you need to! I hope the braces help and give you some relief.
Twinmom, poor baby. I hate when my kids hurt. I make fingerless gloves. PM me your address and favorite colors and I'll send you a pair! Really, I will. I use mine in the house all the time.
Fantod, sorry your message was eaten! Such frustration.
Angela, still praying. Don't give up!
I'm sorry if I missed anyone.
I treated myself to some new clothes today because I've been diligent in my eating and have lost nearly 20 pounds. Many, many more to go. I'm trying to get off all these asthma meds. Ugh, I hate them. I also bought a cozy pair of socks. They feel so good. I hope they still do after a washing. I feel the need for a nap coming on, so I wish everyone a nice evening and less pain.
Guys, I'm rather depressed this afternoon. My ribs hurt so much. And my tongue is still on fire from the allergic reaction to the Celebrex. I'm still taking the Benadryl. I called the orthopedic docs nurse again and she said I should my regular doctor if it's still going on tomorrow. I really don't want to go to yet another doctor. That is all I've been doing for 2 months. And I need sleep.
(And, BObbi, if I missed you, I'm sorry! My head is not good today.) ...
Mmm, PB cookies.... Maybe I will put PB on my cookie and say it's supper?
Bobbii, thanks for the cake! Yay, new clothes and congrats on the weight loss!
Ida, sorry your ribs are so sore and your tongue still burns... :(. PB cookies sound good!
Leo, thanks for the choco cookies. Wish I had some cookies to send back to you :-P
The pain in my leg is easing up. But now I have a headache, the one where both my head and neck hurt. :( Gosh, this disease is great in how it plays musical body parts.
Leo: Another very informative post an as said before, don't know how you do it. The research, the typing, yes get up each day and say F these issues and do what makes you happy, but still. You impress me!
What many may not know is some of the things that were done by Hitler when he could. When I was very young my mother had a German friend that heard some gruesome stories from. The lady in question was a child at the time and witnessed unspeakable things to people, herself included. Human mutilation trying to combine a person with another or an animal for example. She had scars to show it as well.
When I lived in Southwest Germany about 35 years ago, you wouldn't dare say his name in public. The man was a genius for war strategy but an outright ruthless person towards human kind. But obviously in the end he met his demise which is still highly controversial as to how and when...
Anyway, there is my one cent worth!
Sorry to all here of your tribulations and hope you have a good day tomorrow (well, today now my time! US Pacific)!
