I've has this pain in the kidney area for 2 freakin months now!
a month ago a was in the Tripler Army Hospital ER for this pain and they did a urine test for a UTI, it was negative. they said they could give me a lung Xray or just treat the pain. I got pissed so i chose to go home.
2 weeks ago my primary doc gave me a CT scan of my kidney looking for a stone, didn't find any, but found that my kidney was thinning. my PCM didn't know what the CT scan results meant and said it's probably normal and not to worry about it.
so yesterday i woke up and the pain was still there and the it was getting on my nerves pretty bad. just out of curiosity i went on the net and looked up what thinning of the kidney could mean and it said it's a sign that the kidney is decreasing it;s function and leading to failure.
couldn't get a hold of my PCM all day which lead to my trip to Queens ER.
they did a whole panel on blood work and screened my urine for protein. After 4-5 hrs of waiting the results came back and they said everything was normal. the doc said he didn't understand and it was a bit mysterious. he said it was a problem because he didn't have access to the CT scan so he couldn't see it.
but he also said my kidney could be healthy and it just was thinned from all the kidney infections I've had over the last 7 yrs.
worse comes to worse, he said, they are seeing results of my OTHER kidney and this one really has stopped. but he thinks I'm ok.
but if it is healthy, then why have i had pain for 2 months??
ok.... so i was thinking, based on the CT scan showing a thinning kidney, should i ask to see a nephrologist anyway and get a strait story on what's going on here (despite the good panels)? what would you do if this were you?

I'm sorry mizoze for what you are going through. i pray that you find healing for your kidney problems. those are important organs! God bless....

I can feel your pain. I just got out of the hospital for almost the same reason. I was there for 8 days. I have had a constant pain in my right kidney area for months. I get constant uti's that turn into kidney infection (polynephritis) because I have kidney reflux, all my urine does not empty when I go to the bathroom, the last little bit gets sucked back in and goes back into the kidneys. The only thing different is my urine test come back showing I have an infection. I have been on antibiotics so much that now I am almost immune to them all and they have messed up my stomach and while I was in the hospital they found out that I have gastritis and gastroparesis because of all the antiobiotics and pain meds that I have been on. Its a never enging road. Just dont give it. Make those dr's work for their money.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
