Had a bunch of lab work done and I found out my vit d level is low. The Dr is calling me in a prescription for 50,000 units that you take once a week. That sounds like alot at once. I Hope my stomach survives this and I hope I feel better. My fatigue has been alot worse for awhile.

I have not had any stomach problems but it hasn't helped any of my fibro symptoms either.
When I first tested low and started taking a supplement, it did help my pain but only minimally. It wasn't like the pain went away, it felt more like my meds were working better. Not sure that makes sense but it was how it felt to me.
Never had a problem with my stomach and the supplements and I've been on 5000 a day for several years after getting back to normal, just so I can stay there.
Hope your Rx helps you!
I already have an appt with my GI Dr tomorrow, so I will talk to her about it.
Now I take 5,000 I.U.'s a day and I'm still at the lower end of the spectrum. Perhaps I'll increase it.
I'm a person with major stomach issues. But the Vit D doesn't bother my tummy at all.
good luck!
I also am Vit D Def and take 10,000 idu a day. I had no stomach issues but it sounds like your stomach maybe more sensitive than mine. If your afraid the 50,000 all at once will be too much see if you can break it down into a daily amount. I also have to take it in liquid eye dropper form because I do not absord the vit and minerals like I should. EXAMPLE...I was taking vit d 2000 idu tablet daily for 1 year and then tested for vit d and my level was 17. Now on 70,000 total a week and after 6 months we've got it up to 30. Good Luck
Some of you had talked about liquid Vit D - is that prescription ? I wonder if that would be eaiser on my stomach.
I have been making a point of sitting out in the sun about 15 minutes a day - but I dont know how long that will last - I live in Michigan and it wont be long until it is too cold to do that and/or the gloomy sunless days start.
Any suggestIons?
Thank you for bring this thread back to the front... I just found out my vitamin D was low yesterday... it was a 13. My doctor put me on 50,000 twice a week, I feel like that is definitely a little much considering everyones elses dosage, of course do not know what everyones levels were.
I have had the liquid Vit D before and had a perscription for it, not sure if that's the only way you can get it though.
I am nervous about taking my first dose as I tend to have horrible stomach problems. Though my doctor did tell me to start my next reflux meds first for two days before I take the vitamin D.
Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you and doesn't make you sick.
