Good morning!
"Waning gibbous" is just the phrase for "past full moon". "Waxing" is heading into a full moon. I mention this for no damn reason whatsoever but the fact I got four rotten hours of pain-filled sleep and had time to stare at the night sky a bit. A lot.

The most common insects likely to show up around your computer screen or TV if it's LCD? Fruit flies and gnats. Courtesy my pest control guy, who was telling me why the damn things love me so much. They don't. They love my laptop. Oh yippee. We bought an indoor bug-attract-and-zap light and so far, a few casualties can be reported. Well, what's left of them. Like, teeny-tiny wing bits. Which is fine by me. Hubby didn't check for fruit flies before buying the produce, Hubby can deal with my having bug-killing stuff all over. Hmph. (Seriously, who doesn't check? OK, never mind. I know. I'm probably the only one who *does*, LOL.)
Why do wounds itch? The healing process is irritating. LIterally. I'd go into details, but some of you may be thinking of meals. Long story short: the more irritated a body part getsĀ when injured, the more irritated it'll be as it heals. Skin-wise, anyway. Bones mend up pretty nicely, all things considered. Weird, but true. The process of the skin and flesh filling in is called "granulation". I know, right? Even sounds like it should itch. (I'm still trying to kill four minor skin wounds that, having gotten really angry, won't calm the hell down on my ankle. So I have that on my mind. And my ankle. OMG. Not one OTC ointment is hurrying this along. Argh. Salt water soaks, you name it, I've tried it. Longest itchiest ankle scrape *ever* in terms of time. Honestly, what the what...)
The gypsy moth (Asian or European, and both have invaded the Americas) are considered noxious pests. Destroy and contain and report wherever you live, b/c the gypsy moth will eat the leaves off over 500 species of trees. Literally. Just... one infestation, and it's all over. Done. Gone.
Beware the newest trend in dieting (or newest old trend): Avoiding nuts! Aiee! They have fats! Aieee! Oh no! they have carbs too! ARGH! Uh... they have carbs, protein, and (usually very good for your heart) fats. That pretty much makes a nut an ideal food source. Has it all. I wouldn't live on them --- nor do I --- but freaking over the fat content of nuts in a high-protein diet... Well, show me a protein that comes minus any fat. In Nature, t hat is. Hmm. Starving rabbit meat maybe??? No, wait, broccoli. Sorry. WHich isn't really that high in protein, but is for a vegetable, and let's face it, we gotta eat the veg for our health, soooo... Yeah. Balanced diet, avoid processed foods, yada yada blah blah blah, etc etc etc.

And on that generic weirdness, I'm off to try to find some sleep. If possible. I'll look for it in the dictionary maybe? Hmm.

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...
So my cousin told me a way to get rid of fruit flies. They breed in wet places, like the inside of your faucets and your drains. So make a mixture of three parts water and one part bleach (I know, bleach sucks but so do fruit flies and this works) and dunk your faucets into it, hold it there for a minute and then carefully pour the rest down all your drains (it doesn't take much.) In a few days, no more fruit flies...it really works. I was skeptical, cause I am skeptical about everything but she did it at my house last summer and I was thrilled with the result. She did it in a two cup Pyrex measuring cup. xo Hope you are sleeping away...I didn't sleep either last night, the full moon always gets me! xo
I'm not doing great today. Still flaring and not sleeping well because of the pain. I added it up yesterday and realized that the mini horse stuff I bought that can't be returned (because I've used it) came to about $300. I got it over the course of a few months so I didn't realize it was that much. I got a credit on one thing yesterday, which was better than nothing, and they sell dog stuff so at least I got things I can use. People have suggested that I try again but knowing that this outcome is likely, I can't do it. Maybe someday I can afford to board a horse but that's not in the foreseeable future. And I have my 11 hour shift today and zero motivation
Little time here, as I'm heading back over to Mom's again a little later this morning.
Leo, I got this gorgeous Plow and Hearth fruit fly glass orb thingy (think Murano Glass) as a gift when we moved here. It's made from glass and you just add a little left over wine or some apple cider vinegar and the flies are gone in a day or so. And the way the sun hits the orb is just stunning, almost like a watercolor stained glass, but it's something I keep out just for the decoration alone.
Khadi, what a neat tip, I often clean with either bleach or vinegar, I'll have to be sure to do that with our faucets.
Miki, yes, horse gear does get a bit spendy as it accumulates. I decorate our main floor bathroom with it (I have a horse theme and use grooming gear and for a rustic look in there) and I use horse leads for Tank (to give him space and because I don't trust whimpy leashes with his weight and strength).
If all else fails, you could keep it, like your loved ones share, or you could possibly donate it to a horse rescue group? You know, maybe that is a thought, what if you were to donate time with a horse rescue group while you work more with Miki? I know, that there is a horse out there that would match up with her well....it's just finding the right one. I suppose there is always ebay, if need be.
I'm about as sore as it comes today. I'm all tense from yesterday, Mom, I love her dearly, but she's at that point where she's getting upset that she's not progressing further with her recovery and is becoming a bit more difficult to contend with. She sees all the things she wants to do and then when no one else does it for her, she gets frustrated. I've been in her shoes before, so I'm just taking it as it comes.
But over all, she's doing good for saying she just had a good portion of her lung removed. And we are still waiting to hear back from the doc what kind of cancer it is and what stage.
And on the home front here, it's been a whirlwind since last Friday. Lots of moving and grooving going on here and running amoks and stuffs. So I slept like a rock last night and didn't wake until 6am. If we only could feel refreshed after an all nighter, right?
I hope everyone has a great day today. Hugs to all!
khadi, great advice. I hope your pain isn't too bad today and you catch a nap.
Miki, Good luck on your long day at work, especially with your shortage of sleep. Hugs
Wonder, I'm so glad to hear that your mom is holding up nicely despite the frustration of wanting to do more. I know how hard that must be. My mom gets major depression and it's so toxic listening to the nonstop complaining. I think I've gotten much better about complaining (except on here, this is where I vent it all.). :-) I hope you have a great day and take good care of that momma.
I think I discovered something groundbreaking on my stomach guys. I stopped taking the Fluconazole for Candida with my dinner and my stomach has been much better the last 2 nights. I can't take Antibiotics with food and so why I never thought of this before I don't know. I decided Sunday night to not take anything with dinner except my Betaine and my stomach was much better. I took the fluconazole like 2 hrs after dinner and I noticed a little bloating but Monday morning was decent. So I did the same thing last night and my stomach was totally fine last night. This morning I had a little bloating but nothing like before. So it's the Fluconazole and before it was Nystatin (both for Candida) that was doing a number on me. Don't get me wrong I have a terrible stomach and slow mobility, but those make it so much worse, especially if I take them with food, it's like it stops my body from digesting it, which is how antibiotics are on me. I pray I'm right.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Ok i love this generic fit bit and i did sleep last night i crashed but out of 8 hours sleep? 1 hours 15 mins of deep sleep the rest was light sleep, and i wonder why im always exhausted even when i sleep? UGH.Today i have to type up 60 days of blood sugars which is 4 to 5 a day and email it to the place im getting the freestyle libre from (continuous glucose monitor). UGH! I am so worn out and exhausted and hurt like hell it stormed all night, and is going to rain more today. my moods are swinging like crazy which doenst help anything either.
Blue - Thank you for the shout out. Shakota - I'm so glad that had a visit with your son and grandchild! Twin - I'm glad that you figured out the source of your stomach issues at night. Miki - I hope that your long day goes by quickly. AngelaJo - Getting those blood sugars together sounds like a lot of work but for a good cause. Wonder - I am glad that your Mom is doing pretty well. Leo - Bugs begone! Any flying insects don't last long in my house with three cats.
Another mention to all of you fine folks out there about using GoodRX. I have had my medications filled at Costco for years because it was always the cheapest price. Not anymore. And, my copay has gone up on some of the medications that I use. Yesterday, I moved a script from Costco to a local grocery store pharmacy because I saved $20 on a refill using GoodRX. Convenient to jump thru those hoops - no. But, my savings using GoodRX are adding up. You can get an app for it on your smart phone or get online to compare prices. Easy to use and well worth investigating.
I'm off to get today's projects underway. Truthfully, I'd like to crawl back into bed and just let myself feel horrible. Shoutout to Ida (I hope that you are OK), Bear, Blue, Shakota, PuppyMom (stay home!), Zombie and Pam.
I will try to check back later today.
Leo, sorry pain kept you up, I hope you got a nap in by now. We have a big bug problem here: ants, mosquitos and at night the gnats come out. They love to bite hubby. We bought a mosquito net for the bed, but the gnats are small enough to crawl through and get him so now we're looking for a tighter net lol.
We dragged some more furniture out this morning.... it's looking pretty empty in here. I have a rheumatology appt today. I also need to bring my back brace in to "show" them it doesn't fit. At least that's what the guy on the phone (in Honolulu) suggested I do since nobody wants to help. I also have a few errands to run while out; PetCo, Walmart, and possibly Home Depot.
Back in a sec.
Leo I used to have a bug zapper but it broke. I guess I need to get another one. We have had wasps on our patio all summer. And out at the street are fruit trees full of yellow jackets. That wouldn't be a problem but I am allergic and that is the place we are allowed to smoke.
Miki I hope your flare calms soon. It seems a lot of us don't sleep. I hope your day passes quickly. It is amazing how much we spend on our pets.
Wonder I am glad to hear your mom is doing well considering all she has been through. It is wonderful that you slept so well. I am sure you needed it.
Tension has a way of making the body sore. I hope it lets up soon.
Twins YAY for figuring it out. I know it is maddening and when you hurt so bad every time you eat it makes eating hard. I hope it continues to work. Praying for you.
Angela I am glad you are enjoying your fit bit. I hate typing up BS for the doctor. I hope you have a good day.
Fantod it sounds like the cleaning I do every spring and fall. I hate doing it because I feel so lousy. I hope you can pace yourself better today and not overdo.
Shout out to Ida and Blue. I am taking it slow and easy today. I have shelves at both ends of my closet that I use to store fall and winter leggings and sweats. I have managed to put a bunch of other things there and now have to find a place for them before the cool weather things come out of the storage containers. It seems I have more and more stuff and I need to go through and get rid of it or find a use for it. Lots of projects ahead for me lol.
I hope you all have a great day.
Miki, I like Wonder's idea about either donating the items or volunteering with some horses. Hugs going your way.
Wonder, I'm glad your mom is going OK after her surgery and I hope she will get on track with recovery (progress at the speed she prefers). I hope she understands she isn't a young spring chicken and her body needs time and patience. Sorry the results mean you running around for her. Been there done that with my mom. We have the honor of telling them it's literally a pain in all kinds of places. I hope you can get some rest and feel better.
Twins, hooray for figuring that out! Now if only the doctors could figure out the rest of your gut issues. When I tried a probiotic with anti fungal properties (because a friend thought she knew what would cure me lol) it made me super bloated and miserable.
Angela, do you do sleep aids? It sounds like you're up all the time from your posts. I feel bad for you and wonder how you function at all.
Fantod, I hope the cleaning projects are over soon. If not, you can help me wipe down my Balinese couch today lol. J/k. But in all seriousness, I need to go to Home Depot and find a mold sealant so I can save it. Maybe you can sneak a nap in after your chores / projects.
Autumn, I have to go through my stuff too. Some of my documents and possibly photos went rotten and need to be thrown away. Also, I have extra storage bins of clothing taking up space that my husband is nagging me about and I'm getting tired of hearing it so I should go through it too and see if I can get rid of a couple. I hate going through boxes and forget clothing because you have to try them all on.... blah! Good luck with yours.
Fantod, you are doing exactly what I would like to be doing. I'm sorry that your pain and sleep have been so bad. I hate that in order for us to be productive we have to suffer terribly. Take a rest today and let your body recover some. Hugs
Blue, that's a lot of stuff you need to do. And wow on the bug problem. I guess it's not too surprising since your out so far, but dang your poor hubby on gnats. I hope you find something that works great on the bugs, and I hope you aren't hurting too much from your errands.
Autumn, Thank you! :-) I'm glad you are pacing yourself. I imagine that medication makes you tired too. I need to clean stuff out, we have so much accumulated since I've been stuck with chronic pain, that's probably your case too. Hubby does the garage about once a year and won't touch anything in the house. I need more energy and less pain and then I'll start. LOL
