It's kinda funny how your mind can play tricks on you when you're anxious. For the past week I've been really worried about VanGogh, I was thought he was declining even after starting the medication for anemia. I was just thinking, please make it through November (I lost a cat the past 2 Novembers). I was thinking back to February when Alli was severely anemic and not eating, we put her on the same medication and after 5 days she had no response and was getting worse in other ways, and I made the decision to euthanize her. So I was genuinely surprised yesterday that VanGoghs hematocrit went up 4% and his reticulocytes were high(those are immature red blood cells, high level=bone marrow is producing RBCs in response to anemia). He also gained about 4 ounces despite not eating very well. The doctor checked him out yesterday and even though I didn't need insight as much as I thought, she agreed he's doing pretty well all things considered. Don't ask me how he gained weight so fast...I'm just gonna take the win and not question it.
I think I mentioned at some point that Nox's coat color right now (he was jet black but his coat slowly turned grayish a few years ago, then got darker again when I started feeding him hypoallergenic foods) almost looks like a smoke cat..been thinking that for a bit but finally looked at a photo of an actual longhair smoke cat next to him. This is Nox:

So yeah...it's almost like he's supposed to look like this lol. At the end of the day, I really don't care what color he is as long as he's happy, but my nerd brain finds it interesting. Cats are weird AF, especially mine..

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

Back home, Hubby got his MRI results, I'm so fried I think my brain actually IS that egg, only the "drug" is exhaustion, and the skillet is Life. We lost a year of Physical Therapy progress. :-( I'm devastated on his behalf. But his metalwork is intact. Muscles around it essentially herniated weird.
Dahlia was traumatized by our cat-sitter, We told her, DO NOT TRY TO FIND HER. Dahlia is terrified of 99% of humanity. If she wants to know you, she'll find you. Catsitter didn't listen, Dahlia was found INSIDE the couch (that's new) and only this morning stopped yowling and running to hide or both. Catsitter was horrified, only charged us half. Well, good, because for two hours,w e thought Dahlia might have died. She was THAT upset.
Had a lovely trip till the last of it, then it was chaos and mayhem, but that's how it is. Someone gave out my private off-DS e-mail and I'm told I'm manyt hings, how dare I, etc. Since one of three people to have the e-mail is dead, that narrows down the suspect list a bit, so to speak. Whatever. I don't fuc*ing care. I have three loads of laundry, gotta shower Hubby (ah, I didn't miss doing that every day).... My resume/CV will read "Shitstorm manager"!
Leo, I am really sorry to read about your husband's back. That sounds like a nightmare. How do they fix something like that? Poor guy!
I am in Houston staying at one of our Marine buddy's house. I am supposed to be packing right now so we can head back to San Antonio in a few hours....but I came down with a cold yesterday and I feel absolutely miserable. I woke up pre-dawn today with a wicked splitting sinus headache. My eyes feel like their gonna pop and all my upper teeth hurt. The sinus pressure is also messing with my equilibrium.....and when I got up to use the bathroom it gave me vertigo. After sweating through my clothing and soaking the sheets and pillow, I felt I needed a shower. But the vertigo turned my stomach and my shower was interrupted by the sudden need to vomit. Plus diarrhea. Ugh.
We need to head back in a few hours....and I hope I can handle a four hour road trip with vertigo, nausea, headache and whatever else. Our god daughter and god son are also sick with the same cold, so this house is pretty maxed out with sick people. My husband made me some rice porridge and hot camomile tea before heading out to the dentist. His implant is failing so we came out here to see the original orthodontist who installed it. He had to take the day off and I don't think he can get tomorrow off so we can't stay an extra day. I regret coming out and I should have stayed home.
Nox is gorgeous!
Hey all, just a drive by hello. I am still really irritable from political events, so not going to say much. I need to get to allergist, immunologist and ENT according to my concierge doc. I am not over this fluid filled tube thingy. I am a little better, but my allergies are still horrible even though I am taking meds day and night now. I am also doing sprays both allergy and steroid.
And i just finished my augmentin, sigh.
I just need surgery to fix it and I need a nose job to fix my bent nose inside as my nasal cavities are too small. I can barely breathe which is why I don't sleep. I wake up with slobber (ewe gross!) on the side of my mouth every night) because I cannot breathe. I did sleep a lot this weekend and am still tired. I am also taking that new modinafil which is a cancer fatigue fighting drug and do not even feel a difference hardly! That is how sleep deprived I am.
But I also know that my hopscotching all over the city 30 miles here and there and everywhere in one day is not helping either. I had quite a stressful stay at the La Quinta when I tried ot have breakfast. Call it reverse discrimination to the nth degree to where they are still trying to charge my card, but haha. I ordered a new one! and i can shut it off when not used. Security almost manhandled me. I was staying in the WRONG area of town but I had to because in order to be reimbursed for the canceled housesit, I had to stay within 20 miles and I did not want to stay any farther north so I could pick up my scripts in south Austin. It took me 2 hours one way just to pick up my pain meds and the stupid pharmacy was 10 short. are you f'g kidding me...you know i get them every month, wtah?! not happy and moving pharmacies back to my old favorite neighborhood pharmacy from when I lived in my house.
GET THIS!!! I am staying in a room rental/house share that is literally 3 blocks from my old house. I thought it would be traumatizing but turns out, it is very comforting to be back in my old familiar neighborhood where everything is a couple blocks away and super quiet. It's the ultimate suburbia. I am really liking it. The guy has a pool that I have not gotten into yet but will when I get my new tankini two piece when I return. That will help my back. I really really wrneched my back something bad between lifing luggage and then torquing my middlge back by trying to fix the heavy wodden blinds that fell down. Stupid me, I've got to not lift anything over 10 lbs period. Even that, if it's in a weird position or I need to twist, it is bad. There is something really bad happening with my mid back. I cannot explain it other than to say, it feels like it did when I first fractured my mid back and I can feel the tarlov cysts when they move and sit on nerves. Very uncomfortable. Nothiing is helping it. That is the scary part. Nothing.
I am trying to get my insurance pcp to fix my new pain doctor's referral so I can go to him and get lower laser back surgery and if he can do other laser surgery in my back as he has done hundreds by now, I'm going to let him have at it. I've got bone spurs everywhere pinching on my left AND right arm. I am losing strength in my right arm which is New. the underneath of my right arm hurts all the time now. That can only be from my neck stenosis and cervical radiculopathy. I am scared about it. I need to see so many doctors, I could go to one every single day and not be done until late spring y'all. One thing at a time. For now, I can relax, enjoy the peace and quiet and non camera ridden place here and feel at home. This lady was super nice :)
Hi, JP! So glad you're back in familiar surroundings and you're comfortable. Running around all over the map when you have chronic pain is hard on the body. I'm sorry the political situation got you feeling upset. I hope you can find something relaxing to do for yourself.
Mom is ok but I think we are going to try and get her out of there. They won’t get the air bed that she needs. We were told that it would take hours of training. I found an 8 minute video on YouTube that explains everything. Smurf could run it.
Miki - Great news on Van Gogh! Nox is gorgeous!
I’m so sorry about Mr. Leo and all of the stress. Hugs!
Hi JP - Sorry to read about all of your health troubles.. I hope that the new place works out for you.
Blue - I wish that you were not so sick. And, the hubby didn’t need expensive dental work. Hoping that tomorrow is a better day.
Going to try and turn my brain off…Waves!
