Good morning:-) I slept! It was by accident, mind you, but I slept! Until the trash truck came by. They have the new hydraulic auto-arm, and it makes ten times more noise than you'd think mechanical devices should. Someone oil that sucker! Yeesh!

Today, for your therapy... GIVE YOU A HUG. Yep. Give yourself a hug. Studies have shown we need at least four hugs a day for good mental health. Well, fuck you, Covid-19, I'll get my hugs! If I gotta hug myself, so be it. Self-comforting works ---- and if there's a cozy blanket involved and maybe a stuffed animal, or hey, one of many cats? Even better!
So? Did you hug yourself yet? C'mon... Try it. Or, if you hae a pet that doesn't mind, hug the pet! Dahlia's a godo hugger, but Dixie will rip my face off.

Speak of the TOrtie Terror... She found a moth. It's not a large moth. Just an everyday bark moth. La la la... And she is still hunting it.
Yes. It takes my tortie cat 30 miutes minimum to hunt something the size of her boop-able nose. *sigh* Dahlia takes about 30 seconds.
So here's how hunts work in our house.
Dahlia, AKA Black Dahlia, Diva Dahlia, Her Royal Highness, the Parkour Ballerina
1. Locate prey
2. stalk
3. pounce
4. eat
Dixie, AKA Dixie Cup, Dixie Bell (her collar jingles), Dammit Dixie, and Tiger Girl
1. Locate prey
2. chase wildly
3. lose prey
4. sniff around hoping prey returns from Dahlia's stomach, which is rather like the grave in terms of no-returns-possible.
5. stare hopelessly at the humans to help her find her prey
Yeah. I love them both, but dang. I have ilterally seen Dahlia knock something out of the air, claws out, and drop to the ground so it is trapped against her, and then *CHOMP* no more housefly.
Dixie... Yeah... well... Never mind... She likes to eat the tails off skinks Dahlia holds down. With a paw. Dahlia's not much on killing, btw, other than insects. She's just one of those cats. She prefers toys that taste good. Dixie... Well, she's "our special girl", as Hubby says.
For example, fkrst time in over a YEAR, DIxie bolted outside when I went for th email. She then stopped, mewed, took a step, mewed, took a step, mewed.... Recovery was easy. She resisted, but as I informed her, "You run out here like you're Bagheera, then you turn into a mouse," and that was that.

Now, if the vision of Dahlia swooping in and snatching a moth from Dixie isn't funny ----- I have literally tossed a treat to each cat. Dahlia will knock hers out of the air, slam it to the floor, eat it, and have dIxie's in her mouth before Dixie has stopped sniffing it.

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

Today (August 8) is INternational Cat Day. Don't click away! International DOG day is August 26! Both were created to raise aweareness and funds for the well-being of critters. We have many such dayts, to the pint that every day is like an old Catholic saints' day calendar: Take your pick!I'm home, obvs, and still ill. Left calf and foot not great after a tangle-fall, but i'll live. Just can't...
I'm freaking exhausted today. Didn't sleep enough all week and I got up early to run. Plus yesterday was stressful. Miki is doing fine now, she slept a lot and kind of avoided playing for a few hours, luckily my parents were freaked out by the seizure (I shouldn't say that but when it happened in December they were basically just like "oh ok", didn't ask if she's ok, acknowledge that I was extremely anxious etc) and they listened when I said to just let her relax without Franki jumping on her, and watch her closely. She likes to play rough and normally doesn't care, but she wasn't feeling normal at the time. By the time I picked her up she was her usual, happy self and today she seems normal. I don't have to go anywhere today so I can keep a pretty close eye on her without hovering. I need to clean out my car because it's getting worked on tomorrow and they need to be able to get to the hatchback from the inside, plant my hydrangea I got the other day, finish laundry and cooking, and I know I'm gonna need a nap. I'm hoping to get the car and planting done first but I already feel insanely tired. I better get moving. Waves to everyone!
Leo, LOL, Yes, that sounds much like Pudg e and Iz. Izzy has these freakishly long paws and claws to match. She can curl up that paw and hold a pen or straw. She likes play sticks as she would prefer to call them.
Pudge, she likes to hunt and take everything out in her way of hunting said bug. But she only hunts. Then she waits for you to find it too. Iz, stretches, grabs it and case closed.
As for those trash trucks equipped with the mechanical arm? We had one truck's arm malfunction and spew hydraulic fluid all over the street in front of our house. It's still stained out there and that was several months ago and construction workers driving over it spilling dirt and etc.
Glad you got some sleep also.
Hugs back to you too!
Maynard {{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}} I'm not much of a self hugger unless I'm trying to scratch my back. Shh, we have not stopped hugs here in our home. I just can't give them up with a 2% chance of spreading a virus we'd most likely do okay with. I just won't live my life in fear of the virus. I see what it's doing to our great generation. I have seen family members of friends loose their loved ones from a distance because of this virus, and those scars are not something I'm prepared for. And while I respect everyone's wishes in regards to how they personally feel comfortable with covid prevention, I just can't stop hugging. So...here are my virtual hugs!
Miki, What is it with cats and walking between the shower curtain and liner? Pudge does that all the time. She likes to play with the water w/out getting too wet. (She's a dork).
And I wish we lived closer. we are in the process of getting rid of all of our cordless blinds for 2"wide (faux wood) shades blinds instead. Our windows are large and you could have them cut to size. It certainly would stop your Koshka from trying to eat those cords....she sounds like a silly one.
Hope Miki is feeling better today and your day already is exhausting me listening to it. My day is similar again. We're on day 4 of the deck being installed. The stairs go up sometime later today.
Just wanted to swing by when I had a moment today and say hi to you all and offer {{{{HUGS}}}}
I'm off like a herd of turtles today to get some domestic stuff done. I'm drowning in it over here. I tried so hard to get ahead of it all before the pool went in. Now it's mounting up again. Ugh!
Hope everyone who follows has a great day!
