Hope you feel better soon
I have had a problem with a raspy vocie, hoarseness, along with pain and a tight feeling. Since I have thyroid issues I have already been seeing a Endocrinologist and just saw a ENT to check my throat. (Since I have a large family of nodulars growing and having a good ol time on my thyroid we wanted to make sure the throat was clear and not effected by my happy family).
Benign non-cancerous growths on the vocal cords are most often caused by voice misuse or overuse, which causes trauma to the vocal cords. These lesions (or bumps) on the vocal cord(s) alter vocal cord vibration and lead to hoarseness.
Also Excessive tensionin the neck and laryngeal muscles, along with poor breathing technique during speech leads to vocal fatigue, increased vocal effort, and hoarseness.
The ENT gave me a all clear but ordered a blood test to rule out one other thing and said I may have GERD. Since I have had no signs of acid reflux since my first pregnacy 24 years ago...I was taken aback, but after reading more on acid refleux and throat problems I found that Reflux of stomach juice into the throat can cause a variety of symptoms in the esophagus (swallowing tube) as well as in the throat. Hoarseness (chronic or intermittent), swallowing problems, a lump in the throat sensation, or throat pain are common symptoms of stomach acid irritation of the throat. Please be aware that LPRD can occur WITHOUT any symptoms of heartburn and regurgitation that traditionally accompany gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Chronic laryngitis can also be caused by acid reflux disease, or by exposure to irritating substances such as smoke, and by low grade infections such as yeast infections of the vocal cords in people using inhalers for asthma.
So I am waiting for the test to come back and thinking I'll be adding a new pill to my daily mix "one for the tummy".
Not sure if this is your issue, but like everything else we need to see a long line of Doctors to rule out what it might be.
Hugs,
SueBee
Hard to know. Hope research finds out about fibro before I die. My dad had it too, much worse than mine. No help at all. I find a cpap helpful for better sleep and I take Xyrem for deep sleep, which I cannot get on my own. Wishing you a good new year of better health.
