It feels like I have a sunburn everywhere on my skin and it is very uncomfortable. No rash and no redness and no hives or bumps and no dry skin - even my lips feel this way.
I have a vague memory of feeling this way in my early years of fibro , but I am not positive. Any thoughts about this? THANKS.

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

1. her psoriasis
2. shingles
3. mild allergic reaction to a change in the detergent she was using at the time
So.... best to call a doc, IMHO, just to be safe. I only get sunburn feelings from sunburn, so I can't speak from my own experience, just my mom's.

I'm familiar with the sensation, but only because I've had it with shingles.
I have that feeling and have had it for years... I describe it as the feeling when the sun is burning on your skin - very hot and then a stinging, prickly, sand blowing hard at your skin - feeling... I get it primarily in my hands and tops of my feet and also on my lower legs... However, I have noticed there are times when it moves up my legs and up my arms.. I figure this is some type of "flare-up"... but always just on tops of my limbs, rather than on bottoms.
Most doctors have just kinds of said, "Hunh"... like.. that's interesting... but have had no other explanations.
My fear has always been MS.. I have symptoms that meet some of the criterion but haven't pursued it.
My newest internist has ordered an MRI to help rule out that option.
Have you taken any medications to help with your fibromyalgia? What types of things did you do to come to the ultimate diagnosis of fibro?
I appreciate any information about your experience. I am new to the group - not new to the symptoms but beginning to feel worn out by the unending pain.
Thanks in advance!
Best,
CD
Usually Lasts A Couple Days And Disappears.
A Dr. Has Never said Anything About It Much Past The Fact It Is a Pissy Nerve This. Well, I KNEW That !! But Never Received Any Type Of Help For It.
Usually I Get It On The Back Of One Of My Legs, But I Have Had It Up Around the Bottom of My Rib Cage as Well..No Rash, Not Red. Just This Sizzling BURNING.
So...I Tried Aloe Vera Gel On It, Like I Would a Sun Burn. BAM !! GONE. YeaY !! So That Is What I Use :)
I Have to Keep Applying It til It Finally Stays GONE. But That is OK !
If Ever Your Dr.s Tell You "What It Is" I Would Like to Know Too !!
I have to wear very soft clothes or I can't stand it.
Always a good thing to tell your doc s/he might have ideas or meds for you.
I'm lucky my doc has an email system so I can just shoot of an email and get an answer quick. Once in a while I do need to see him.
As the others have said, you may want to check in with your doctor, especially if you have never experienced that sensation before. You can try to experiment with various rub on pain creams to see if you can ease some of the discomfort. Best Wishes to you!!

Definition: Allodynia is pain, generally on the skin, caused by something that wouldn't normally cause pain. Many people with fibromyalgia report having this symptom. Examples of allodynia are pain caused by mild pressure from clothing, a light touch, gentle massage, or sheets rubbing against the skin.
Allodynia is believed to be a hypersensitive reaction that may result from central sensitization, which is associated with fibromyalgia. The pain signals originate with specialized nerves, called nociceptors, that sense information about things like temperature and painful stimuli right from the skin.
Pain caused by touch is called tactile allodynia, while pain caused by movement against the skin (i.e., the brush of clothing) is called mechanical allodynia. Temperature-related pain is called thermal allodynia.
Other conditions associated with allodynia include neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia and migraines.
I Will Have to Look Into This.
I Have had This Sensation On Occasion Many Many Years.
