Statins causing muscle pain question

Hello All,

Last week I was taken off a statin (Crestor) because they are known in some cases to cause muscle pain. Hasn't made a difference so far. Have any of you had this done? And most importantly, did it help?

They took me off my simvistatin for that reason but it made no difference so i am back on it now. My mom it does make a difference one day off crestor and she was much better. So she takes something else now.

I'm on a statin and that was a concern when I started it. No apparent problems from it. Sorry to hear that you are having problems. None of us need more pain!

Didn't take 'em but it does happen to some. I've seen patients with the problem at the same physiorehab doc and place I go to for my pelvis and spine. It might take a while, I dunno. Luck and blessing!

I have tried all the Statins and had to go off all of them due to severe muscle pain. I think this is a very common side affect and really seems to affect those of us with Fibro. I remember it took awhile for the medication to get out of my system before the muscle pain from the statin subsided. We have enough muscle pain without a medication adding to it. How are you feeling now? Hugs GB

I had extreme muscle pain and cramps when taking statins. I tried three different kinds. Now they have listed statins as something I'm allergic to in my chart.

I am on a small dose of Lipitor, and have had no side effects.

I still am not showing improvement but it's not even a week yet. Hopefully things will get better soon.

I've been on Zocor for over ten years and never had a problem. My fibro is of more than 20 years duration so not from that.

I am wondering if the Statin has set off a bad Fibro Flair in you with muscle pain? I don't remember how long it took for the statin to get out of my system but I'm hoping it will be out of yours soon! Do you generally get muscle pain from your Fibro? I get it really bad when the weather changes. I hope by the time you get this, you are feeling better! Gentle Hugs GB

My best friends husband who doesn't have fibro had horrible muscle pain from these type of meds.

My husband just went off Crestor because of muscle pain. Same thing happened when he took Lipitor. Doctor told him it could take up to 4 weeks to make a difference.

Yes I do get muscle pain when flaring. Really some muscle pain all the time, just get worse when flared.

Thanks again for your posts. It's been 8 days off now and no change. My doc took me off of them for a month....so I'm keeping my fingers crossed here!

I had extreme muscle pain from it..

My wife could barely move when she took it.

we cut ourselves off it, we didn't wait for the doctor to do it..
