So frustrated!!

Omfg guys...so I told you all how reckless my parents have been about all this corona virus stuff. Well I got a text this morning that *both* of them have presumptive covid 19. Their symptoms started Friday, only 2 days after I was last in their house. My mom has a high fever and pneumonia and my dad has more minor symptoms. They think the virus is contagious up to 4 days before symptoms start, so work wants me to self isolate for 2 weeks from last exposure. They are quarantined at home and even though they're over 60 they're in good health so hopefully at low risk of complications. But I'm angry that they've exposed me and probably half the city they live in. I'll be fine staying home, I'm not all that social so 10 days without people isn't a bad thing. If there's one silver lining, it's that I happened to get Friday off-it's now already been 4 days since I've been at work so no risk of exposing them if I do develop symptoms, and bf was going to come over today (obviously now I've told him no), and he stayed home last night to work on schoolwork so I couldn't have exposed him either. I really hope pneumonia is enough to make my parents take this seriously, but who knows. And now I guess I should see if I have a needle and thread here to make myself a mask...

I am so sorry you have to deal with this! I am so glad my parents take it very serious because my immune system is so bad and i get so sick just if someone with a cold goes near me, they will not go in any store. Praying for you and your parents i hope noone gets too sick!

Thanks Angela! I hope so too. I'll keep everyone posted. I'm very thankful that work is taking this seriously even if it means I might not get paid for every day off, I asked them to use my PTO for however many days are feasible. Something is better than nothing. And my bf is amazing, he's going to the grocery store tomorrow and he's picking up a few things for me. I stocked up my pantry pretty well over the past couple weeks, I just asked him for frozen veggies, fruit, gallon water jugs and pasta sauce. He's taking this all very seriously too, so I'm fine with him bringing me stuff, he's not allowed in here though. He's gonna leave the groceries on my front steps and text me so we can make sure he stays safe. Meanwhile, the kitties and Miki are gonna be so happy for the next 10 days

Miki I am so sorry to hear about your parents! They really needed to take this much more seriously and now they could have infected you! I really hope they take it seriously now. Please stay safe and don't hesitate to call your doctor if you start showing symptoms.

Oh my God. Miki.... NO! .... Let me know if you need anything? OK? If I can help, please let me know? Even if it's just paper napkins to use instead of tissues, whatever?

Prayers for you and yours, and ... why must people larn the *hard* way and take others with them? *sigh*

Thanks for your concern everyone! Luckily I stocked up pretty well on most things by buying a roll of paper towels or a box of tissues whenever I went to the store, same for canned beans, tomatoes etc and pasta.. so I got to get enough to get through isolation without hoarding or leaving nothing for others. Only thing I'll need to find before going back to work is a better made cloth mask, because I am not good at that stuff lol. But what I made is functional enough for short periods.
