Good morning.
I finally got new memory foam for the bed. It was only three times thicker than the old. Whoops. Guess the old was waaaaay too old. (Bought it in 2012.)

History today is realllly depressing.
Hurricane Irma news from NOAA, latest update as of 7 AM, please beware if you live in Florida or that region in general. It's now predicted to take a hard right and dogleg up the Florida peninsula. If you're near the path, within 100 miles or so, please prepare, because the forecast track only follows eyewall. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at1.shtml?cone#contents

Famous birthdays of today include:
*The* Marquis de Lafayette, who helped the US win the war for independence against England back in the day.
Social reformer Jane Addams, considered the mother of social work as a field.
Joseph P. Kennedy, the guy who fathered John F and Robert F Kennedy, and made a lot of money doign things that are now illegal, but hey, in the 1920s, nobody thought the stock market would be a problem. (Sad but true. Actually, no, JP Morgan would, but he was unique that way.)
Roger Waters of Pink Floyd (Comfortable numbness is still a state I can't achieve, darn it) Hopefully, this works. The Wall, btw, was one of the first albums I wanted to buy despite my very young age at the time, and remains a favorite. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akDsHTdGDCc

OK, I'm off to face the day, which is mostly panicking b/c tomorrow ealry AM is a GYN exam, and... ACK. I've gone 5 years dodging these, and now? I'm stuck with some nurse practitioner I've never even met. OMG. No PTSD worries, no FIbro pain worries, nope nope nope... ACK... OK, off to "Ack" like Bill the Cat some more.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Well, our drought isn't broken but our gutter is. Got two big storms rigth after each other and, wait for it, a tornado warning. Now, I was already running for my go-bag when I heard thunder. The air felt wrong. The sky was getting a color to the west. Been there, lived that, time to hide.No funnel touched down but the radar indicated rotation, and boy was it visible from the ground. Different...

Granddaughter wants me to come over and buy stuff for her school's fundraiser this afternoon. Just catalogs at their house, so no biggie. Grandma will buy something.
Talk to you all later.
So my dog's heart worm test was negative, thankfully, so she doesn't need any further treatment, just monthly preventives. That's a huge relief, even though I've never seen heartworm treatment fail. I still haven't heard from my doctor, I called at like 8:05 yesterday morning. They did call back a couple hours later for more details but I still don't know what they're going to do. And I just had a really awkward moment at work, someone came in to drop their cat off for surgery and after signing the estimate she stood at the counter reading an article about Cathy bates in a magazine for a good 10 minutes while I just sat here. I should have just told her to take the magazine probably. Oh well...hope everyone has a good day
Ohh...ohhh...Memory foam mattresses are the most wonderful invention. They my most favorite thing in the world when it comes to objects that is. We got ours several years ago. And I still slip into bed each night saying how much I love our bed. I'm so happy you got yours.
And Irma is a biggun. Our local weather guy put things into perspective for us last night. He said that the eye would be stretching over our metro area, down to the Mayo Clinic area and up towards Kel's land. (few hours drive time). And that would sit like an EF-4 tornado for oh, 10-12hrs. While the rest of the hurricane would stretch from Western Michigan over towards the Badlands of the Dakotas. Again, sitting there.
My thoughts and prayers are with all down in the path.
And Leo, you have my support, sympathy and all of the above when it comes to the Gyn apt. I haven't been back since, (gulp) Danno was 1 or 2yrs old. Every time I'd make an appointment, my PCOS would toss me a little surprise visit. For a whole year! Then, the whirlwind of autism took over my life, when I had no extra days for any extra appointments, we had therapy/OT/Speech/In home behaviorists 5 days a week. Now I'm in the panic attack years. I need someone to just come and knock me out and just take care of every test like they do when they catch a wild bear. Someone set up camp with a tranquilizer gun for when I go out to get the mail. I'll drop before I make it back in, whisk me off and have me back home so I can make dinner, okay? Its either that or I sit with a bottle of Jack and call an Uber to get me there and back.
Oh and Pink Floyd, love it. David Gilmour is my go to station on Pandora. I went out with a guy who loved Roger Waters, maybe a little more than he should have, LOL.
Ida, I pray you get some relief today. Maybe the GI doc will have a magic wand...poof...and poof, they are gone! And you're such a good Grandma! Hope you find something good. I always loved it when they sold just rolls of wrapping paper. Those giant rolls that last for years.
Well we made it through Day 1 of school yesterday. Beans was done by 11am, and Andypants milked it all day long. The curriculum change up stunned him a bit. And construction continues out front, the cats are quite entertained.
Hope today brings everyone smiles.
People are just strange. Really strange, but it makes for fun people watching when you work with the public.
Glad to hear that you have your replacement foam! Hopefully that'll help with your sleep.
Ida,
Good luck with your appointment! Oh, and buy something for me too! :-)
Wonder,
It would stretch all the way up here?? Hmmm may be time to become a ranger.
Well.....I've been sore over the last few days but am starting to pull out of it again. Just gotta calm down a bit and remember that I can make up for the whole summer in a couple of weeks. :-)
Hope you all have a good Wednesday!
Kel
Ida, have fun, take it easy, and I feel you.
Wonder, I'm with ya. Tranq me, wake me when I'm home again. UGH. I have endometriosis, so every GYN exam for a decade led to pain for a week. Sure, yeah, no problem. *runs screaming*
Miki, glad your pup is heartworm-free.
My memory foam topper i ssooooooo nice. OMG. It fits just my half of our bed, and it's like "Yes, exactly, hold the spine and pelvis right that way, thank you!" Neve rhad issues like that before the big accidental fall stuff severla years ago, but since? Me love memory foam!
Odds are Jose will fizzle. BIg cat-5s like Irma tend to use up a lot of atmospheric energy, fo rlack of a better (brief) way to put it, so there won't be much "juice" left for Jose. Katia over by Mexico, now, we'll see.
To everyone in the Florida region, or remotely near: Please, take shelter, be safe, okay? Better safe than sorry. If I had furnished in-law suite, I'd bail someone out, but I got nothing down there but paint cans and Hubby's elliptical machine and my shop vac.
Leo, I had my OBGYN last week. I hope it goes as well as possible tomorrow. I need to buy a new memory foam mattress. I bet that will help some.
Miki, I'm so glad your dog doesn't need more treatment. I hope you have a good day at work. It's funny that customer didn't sit down to finish it.
ida, I hope you don't need surgery and everything goes well at the GI. That's so sweet of you to go over and buy something from your g'daughter.
Wonder, another school year approached fast didn't it. I hope the boys do great this year, and that it's a smooth year for you. I can't imagine the prep and extra work that homeschooling gives you on top of everything else. You really are a supermom.
Kel, sorry you are still facing a lot of soreness. It will get better, you're right about remembering you can't do everything. It takes time but you are coming along nicely. Gentle hugs
Not a good day, sorry to sound so down. My tooth is still aching since Saturday night. I called almost every dentist by work and none of them take BCBS. My dentist can't see me until Friday 9am, and this morning I feel like I have a bladder infection. Fantod I didn't know that sympathy for someone could bring on sympathy pains. haha. I'm still struggling with low thyroid and pure exhaustion. And I don't think my pain could be worse at this moment between fibro, neuropathy, tooth, and bladder. Good times.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Miki, so glad to hear that your dog’s heartworm test is negative. I hope you hear back from your doctor soon. That’s funny about the lady reading a magazine article at the desk for 10 minutes. I’ve never seen anyone do that before.
Wonder, wow, your life makes my head spin. Glad the school day went well yesterday.
Kel, glad you’re starting to feel better.
Twin, so sorry to hear about all your many pains. Sounds miserable.
I’m doing okay. I’m going off of the Lyrica and Diclofenac so I’m a little tired and achy, but it’s good not to feel so drugged up. I hope the new medicines work well. I’ve been feeling like I’ve been neglecting my dog so I’m really trying to make sure I give her more cuddles and play time. She’s such a nervous, scared dog and I think I’ve been too impatient with her too, so I hope she starts feeling more loved. It’s all a lot to deal with sometimes, as we all know. I’m supposed to get the new flea sprays for animals and the house today, so I’m anxious to get this all over with. I hope the best for all of us today.
Take care, Susan
I would like my GI tract to leave me the h*ll alone. I believe that the bladder infection has been resolved. (Sorry Twin !) But now it appears IBS-C is now my new best friend. I'm not as miserable as I was yesterday but I need a break. I know that there is some vile concoction to drink that nurses know about - anyone? I'm eating prunes which I don't mind and drinking enough water to drown.
Yesterday, I switched my cell phone over to a prepaid plan which is so much cheaper. It took me most of the day to get that done and get my previous carrier to cancel my lines. Being on terminal hold on the phone listening to elevator music is no way to live. No obvious difference with my phone since the switch. So far, so good.
Irma is pretty scary. I've been following the storm track for a few days now. It is a monster. I have relatives in FL and the Bahamas. Hoping everyone including Wolf will be spared/safe.
Too crampy to reply individually. Thinking of all of you and hoping that we all get through the day OK. Group hug!
No big plans for today. I *might* blow the deck off. My personal preference would be to sleep and maybe take a stab at some genealogy.
Why does fibro outsmart me? Yesterday was bad pain-anxiety wise. Couldn't focus on anything. Knee osteoarthritis and lower back pain also showing their ugly mugs. Some days are just bad, dunno why.
I know I should join the Y for their warm pool. I will use their free pass this week and try it out for a month to see if I can stand the noise in the swimming area.
Have a peaceful afternoon and evening everyone!
Shaokta - No, not Miralax. I hate that stuff. Makes me feel really bad when I use it. This is a home remedy thing that I am trying to identify.
With Matthew we had a 50 foot long, 4 foot high mound of tree stuff, plus like 20 bags and that didn't get picked up until December, Matthew was beginning of Oct. Lost 4 trees. At least we never trimmed the front bushes. Will serve as a good buffer from the wind. Never thought ungroomed bushes would be a possible saving grace. I've been washing anything and everything, packing just in case, cooking up anything perishable, etc. I looked at that half gallon of ice cream and was dreaming of eating it all in one sitting....hah! Not going to happen. I got down one scoop, sigh. My fibro pain is way up there. Say some prayers for us! If we evac well go to Georgia or Alabama, out of the cone. Take care all and keep safe!!!!!
Susan, I hope the new meds work for you, I haven't tried either so let us know. I didn't get any help from Lyrica and it just made my exhaustion worse.
Angela, I hope you can handle PT today. It sounds like you need to rest when you get home. Good luck.
Shakota, I get bad pain and anxiety and some nights and days are much worse with no explanation. I hope your day improves and you have a good night.
