Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

Well..my thyroid might be a problem. I have a high TSH but normal T4. TSH increases when your thyroid isn't producing enough thyroid hormones...if only the TSH is high, it could be early or subclinical. Will wait and see if they want to do anything about that or just recheck it at some point. Either it'll even out or my T4 will drop. Meanwhile it's hot and I'm working with Karen, and I have no...

Trust me it's not the end of the world, even though it may feel like it. When I was diagnosed and I had no idea what was happening to my body it was a blow. I went from being someone who avidly worked out to someone who can hardly walk a mile. Once I came to terms and accepted that this was my life I became happier. Don't get me wrong I still have days when I cry and ask why did this happen to me. Once I get a good cry over with I feel much better and I just move on. I do always still hope that they will find a cure, but until then I do what works best for me. I don't push myself to hard when I know the outcome will be pain. You will find what works best for you and ways to become comfortable in the skin you are in. It does get better!!! The best thing to do is find a good doctor who helps find a medicine regimen for you. Also find other things that might help you feel better holistically. For me it's hot baths, aromatherapy, classical music, meditation music, hot tea, and other things that really soothe my soul. I know that it's all new and can be overwhelming the best thing you have done so far is join a support group. It was one of the best things I ever did for myself. Coming to a place with people who are like me and understand me has helped me through this a lot. Also be sure to have a good support system at home that helps you ease into this new life. And remember you can always come here to vent, with questions, for encouragement, anything. I hope some of this helps you.
Be blessed,
Melissa
Its not the end of the world. You just have to adjust your thinking and learn how to pace yourself differently. There are going to be good and bad days. Over time, you will learn coping mechanisms.
Unfortunately, Fibromyalgia (FMS) is not curable. But, it is manageable to some degree (we are all different). I'd like to suggest that you order the book "Fibromyalgia for Dummies." It will give you a comprehensive overview of this complex syndrome and a lot of ways to try and manage it.
Its a tough diagnosis but it is possible to live your life. Take care.
I have pain issues that are not FM-related, but I did get 8 years of remission---or at least so minimal FM without meds it may as well have been. While it's not curable, hey, neither is my epilepsy---and I still have a good life.
Browse around treatments, other threads, you are *not* alone. And don't worry about "curable" or "incurable" or "chronic" or other labels. Every few years, medical science changes anyway, so who the heck knows? When I was dx'd, this was still either a "pscyh" illness or maybe possibly potentially auto-immune.... Now it's neuromuscular. (Which is for me the most accurate.)
You can get a lot back. I was doing 5Ks with FM up until 2011---I had an accident that damaged my body enough that I kinda miss having "only FM"--- so it's about patience, trial, error, and hope.
We're here for ya. Ask or vent, whatever you need.:-)
Trying my best to mentally come in terms with the diagnosis of FM.
The why me ? syndrome.
will get back to you all soon.. for support & coping with the ailment
Thanks again..
