Hello everyone,   I am 60 years old , have been a dental hygienist for 38 years .  My body can't take the stress of the job especially since CoVid .  I went back to work and with 2 masks, face shield, gown , bonnet , etc my body freaked out.  My fibromyalgia is off the rail.  The stress, anxiety and heat ( I have very poor heat tolerance ) is making it impossible for me to work.  I was struggling before covid.


I wonder if anyone has any advice on how to obtain benefits.  I live in California :(

Have you spoken to your doctor about your problems? One of the things you have to do for disability is document, document, document. Your doctor would have to say you're disabled.

I got an attorney to help me with my claim. He knew the phrases that would best help me win my case. You may want to consult with an attorney who specializes in disability cases. They can give you direction on what will help you win your claim.

Your health situation has to be very well documented. Prefers by specialists. And, you need to speak to your doctors/specialists in advance of filing to be sure that they will back your claim for SSDI.

I used Allsup. You can find them online. They are very efficient and will do all of the paperwork that is needed on schedule. They don’t take anymore than an attorney. And, they have a very high percentage rate of success. I was approved on the first try. My situation is the exception to the rule. Most people are denied at least once and the waiting period can be as much as three years. Good luck to you.

PJ, I live in Texas. I googled to find a social security disability attorney in my town and had quite a large number show up in my area. None in my town, but that's OK. I expected to drive to see someone. I was very happy with the amount of correspondence and contact with my attorney. If you were near me, I'd recommend them.

    Well..my thyroid might be a problem. I have a high TSH but normal T4. TSH increases when your thyroid isn't producing enough thyroid hormones...if only the TSH is high, it could be early or subclinical. Will wait and see if they want to do anything about that or just recheck it at some point. Either it'll even out or my T4 will drop. Meanwhile it's hot and I'm working with Karen, and I have no...
