So you guys who read check in all know the situation with work and how stressful it's been, and that I finally managed to schedule a day off for 2 weeks from yesterday. And you know that the person I work with on wednesdays is a crazy bitch who avoids being at the office like the plague, while ignoring the actual plague. The day I took off is a Wednesday, and we only have surgery in the morning because the doctor has an appointment that afternoon and has to leave, so I could ask someone to work half a day for me instead of a full day, so finding coverage was actually fairly easy. On wednesdays we alternate weeks we leave early because crazy woman can't stand being here when there's no appointments or surgery happening (the manager offered to find things for her to do, this offer was declined)-she was leaving early every week while things were shut down and I got stuck with whatever was going on because we were busy, and it was absolute hell, so after the manager told her that's not ok we agreed to alternate. My day off would be my week to leave early.
On to yesterday...things were crazy from the second I got there but once we got a second to breathe she said to me that she forgot to ask me last week, but she was hoping to leave early that day because it's the only day her doctor can get her in before the end of December. Oh and a hair appointment after, cue the lights and sirens! I told her why I took that day off as my first day off (other than being sick) in 2 years and she's interrogating me about why my other coworker can't stay til 3 or 4. Something to do with her kids, sports, homework etc-didn't ask for every single detail from someone who's doing me a favor. Then why someone else can't work (either because people can't stay late enough to actually cover the shift, or they're doing something else, or crazy woman not being able to get there on time on a Monday/she usually doesn't work til 4 on those days-this specifically was to call her bluff, is this confirmed non urgent checkup worth working an extra shift on top of her whole 24 hours a week?). Apparently it wasn't that important because we were back to why can't this person stay later? So I just said she can take it up with her if she needs to know, because I don't. Even after the dramatic sigh and "I guess I'll just have to cancel it" she was definitely not happy with me the rest of the day. And I was shaking by that point because of severe anxiety in those situations, wondering if I should have relented because I know getting doctors appointments are hard to come by, or let her just suck it up because I've already switched so many shifts for her....yeah. I just said nothing figuring I'd get more from just watching and waiting.
Got home last night and realized I should text the person who is covering for me a heads up that she might get interrogated tomorrow, and how I left the conversation...her reply ? "Oh yeah, yesterday she saw the schedule and FLIPPED. Claimed it was HER day to leave early but I already know it's not, there's no reason other than the entire afternoon being empty. She told me and [other coworker not involved in this clusterfuck of drama] that she had a hair appointment. Sorry but she should never make plans on a Wednesday at 3 or 4 when she's scheduled until 5. You didn't take a vacation this year and she is the last person you should have to explain yourself to." What. The. FUCK. She *made up* a fucking doctors appointment to try to manipulate me into giving up my ONE day off. She didn't mention it the night before but told me she meant to say something last week...no coming back from that lie, she didn't forget to tell them yesterday I'm sure, not if the doctor was the real reason. I'm pissed. That takes a lot for me but I'm fucking bullshit. Good thing she lied about how she scheduled an appointment last week, I guess? Scheduled it during the lunch break instead of the open slot an hour later, which coincidentally was the last appointment on her week to leave. Something about giving the doctor time to keep the cat for diagnostics that we actually would be able to do more easily without another appointment in between, but also wouldn't matter because this client wouldn't do them even if her cat was actively dying (we all know this person).
Im sorry this is so long, I'm just beyond frustrated. The stress is having major effects on my physical and mental health and I was so relieved to get a day off and she doesn't give a flying fuck. And feels entitled to the schedule she wants so she isn't bored for a few hours. God forbid. Oh and she's 51, a grown ass adult, at least biologically. I'm glad I didn't give in, I would NEVER reward that kind of fucked up behavior. But next Wednesday has the potential to be very tense..

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...
