Here int he US, it's a bank holiday: Presidents Day!
Originally, we celebrated the birthdays of two dead guys ---- George Washington and Abe Lincoln. Now, I think people just are glad for a break. A long way from the "Celebrate George Washington's Birthday!" back in teh 1880s!

But why is it always a Monday?!
Well, back in 1968, the US government said, "midweek hoidays are a pain in the butt", and established a "Uniform Monday Holiday Act". Poof! From actual dates to nearest-Monday. This also gave three-day weekends. Yeehaw!
The act came into full effect in 1971, and here we are.
it also added Columbus Day, which is still a sore point for Native Americans/Indians/ the Nations (however you prefer to refer to yourselves, it varies) ----- since Columbus was the harbinger of oh-hell-this-sucks. Between disease, slavery, and conquest, you can see why that's a holiday *not* celebrated by some!
But basically it gave us the Memorial Day and Labor Day three-day weekends, tossed in Prez Day, and yes, it had money at the core ----- the travel industry lobbied hard to get more three-day weekends going, so they could sell family weekend vacations. $$$$$$
Martin Luther King Jr's birthday eventually was added to the list of three-day weekends, even if his actual birthday isn't on the ady.
Japan has a similar law now, called, roughly, "The Happy Monday System", instated around 1998-2001 IIRC.
Weirdly, tho' much of Europe is now Protestant, they take bank holidays on a Monday or whenever, often based on... the old Roman Catholic feast days (Ascension Thursday, for example, or WhitSunday/Monday, etc.).

Dahlia needss a cuddle.
I have gotten a cell phone so Hubby will feel I am safe when I leave. I am planning a trip to Seattle in April, would be gone already if I didn't live so far from airports. just getting to an airport is half a day.
The adventure of the abyss continues. I really hate having an inner abyss.

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I so wish it was a holiday here but sadly I’m working. My stomach is acting up and I’m just struggling mentally, still. I didn’t get enough done this weekend because I had to sleep so damn much. I also overdid it on Saturday and I still feel that. And since everyone is off today we’re crazy busy…although it’s going to be 50 later so hopefully people will stop calling and go outside. If it stays crazy I might just lose it.

Not much going on here. My partner just left to run errands and do some grocery shopping. It is sunny and warmer here again today. We will have rain later and then it gets cold again.
I'm headachy today and have some paperwork to sort out/do. I'd rather crawl back into bed and call it a day. My stress and levels are terrible. I have to call the dentist too. Part of a filling on a front tooth broke off. That has to get fixed. I really just can't take much more.
Smurf was crazy earlier. He ran at full speed from the front of the house to the family room. Skidded on the laminate floor in the family room and smashed in some furniture. I think spring fever may be under way.
Miki - I wish work wasn't so nuts today. You always manage to get through it somehow. Hoping that the phone slows down so you can catch your breath.
Shoutout to AngelaJo, Ida, PuppyMom, Milily PainedOne, Zombie, Penni, Autumn and Twin.
Leo, I’m so happy that you have a plan for a trip. Anticipation for something good might make a black day even a little cloudy. Which is slightly better. I know while I’ve been going through pain and depression during these months, my grandkids and the anticipation of getting my rescue greyhound helped me have something out there ahead. Thanks for the president’s, and other holidays stuff. Always interesting. Glad you have a phone. Take care.
Miki, I hope for not such a busy, horrible day for you. I know it’s so stressful. My stomach has been off kilter for a couple of months too. I or DO have no idea. I take OTC anything with simethicone in it. It helps a little. Suggested by my DO anyway. I hope your workday goes as fast as possible
All of a sudden, I have some stuff to handle. So later.

Leo - I am so glad to hear you get to get away and visit Seattle. I know how difficult the planning, packing, traveling , etc can be to plan and go on a trip,
My husband and I were invited to go to Hawaii with his sister and brother in law to celebrate his retirement in April. It's still February and I am already anxious about packing, how will my body feel, blah, blah , blah ! So I'm going to wish you calm, peaceful, pain free days as you prepare and travel to Seattle.
Can't wait to hear about your trip ! Hugs :) Penni
Miki - sorry you find yourself in a stressful day - I hope the weather does warm up so you won't be so busy and hope you can have good rest and calm when you get home xo
Fantod - glad your partner is helping with the errands. It's cold and gray here so I'm still under blankets and planning my attempt to get up and moving.
I hope your dental visit goes well - a broken filling on a front tooth isn't too fun.
Idajoy - you are so right about looking forward to special times. My grandbabies are coming this weekend. It's been a rough "fibro" week for me so I'm trying to focus on getting done what I can when I can - not beating myself up. It's hard for me because I miss the person I used to be but I guess I'm still in here - just a little different.
Hi Lilmissy - enjoy your day.
Blessings and love to all !! :) Penni xo
Everyone, deep breaths ---- I also booked a vacay to another country! :-)
