As for medication, I'm going to guess that you are in the UK based on the "hen" reference. In Europe, some of the medications for Fibromyalgia are named differently.
The three most common medications used are: Pregabalin Zentiva (Lyrica in the USA), Milnacipran (Savella in the USA) and Duloxetine Zentiva (Cymbalta in the USA). Gabapentin is another choice but is more old school. Some people do well with muscle relaxers as well.
Only certain classes of prescribed medications work for the type of pain caused by Fibromyalgia. Over the counter meds like paracetamol will not work because Fibromyalgia is not inflammatory. It is a disorder of the central nervous system.
It takes time and a lot of tinkering to find the right dosage and medication/s for each Fibromyalgia patient. Don't expect immediate results. The longer a chronic pain cycle has continued, the harder it becomes to manage or stop. Typically, when starting a new medication, it can at least 3 weeks to notice a change in your symptoms.
You should also be using a medication for sleep. Fibromyalgia interrupts the deep sleep cycle with short bursts of high intensity brain activity. Your muscles require deep sleep in order to repair themselves from the days activities. No deep sleep means higher levels of pain.
I hope that my comments are helpful to you. Take care.
