Well, I saw the female doctor, and she was a little sweetheart with a baby bump, about the same age as my daughter, I would guess. Nothing for me to fear.....for those who read my check-in post.
She listened to my story of slipping on the ice and landing on my low back/butt/tailbone, and was very compassionate about the whole thing. I had an X-ray....no cracked tailbone. She did say it's bruised though. She also said that there is a lot of swelling pressing on nerves and what-not that is causing the sparks/weakness/pain down legs, and all of that. She said if the pain down the legs continues after a few days, I am to come back.
Now here's the kicker. When it came time for talking pain control she said that the government has tied the doctor's hands, and the doctors are not in control of pain control anymore. She said she would give me enough Tramadol for a couple of days, but that's all she can do. I'm blaming both parties for this. I know it's been pushed by both sides. I am angry and sad that it has come to this. Have you guys had doctors tell you similar tales?
Oh, and I got my donut pillow. It actually hurts worse when I use it. Bummer.

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

The issue with prescribing opioids has been going on for a couple of years now. Doctors are under extra scrutiny and can lose their license for whatever the government deems as over prescribing. I just saw an article that dentist are tge next target when it comes to prescribing pain killers.
This is a huge problem for people like us. Doctors have little to no control over what their patients who have a legitimate need require. I felt extremely lucky to be accommodated so well for my recent knee surgery.
Nothing like an outside entity meddling in the exam room. It's inhumane.
I wonder what her supervisor would say about this. I wonder if this Dr would want her mother treated that way.
I have come more across Drs not wanting to prescribe for chronic pain like for fibro or back pain, but not something like this. My Dr that left her office to switch jobs last month regularly prescribed me pain meds for my spine, costochondritis , elbow tendon tears etc - but it is not for fibro. I rarely take more than 2 a day. Also, I have muscle relaxants as needed. Other Drs before her were content to let me suffer. Now , I have a new Dr and it has yet to be determined if she is going to continue on with my pain meds. Fortunately, I wont have to find out for a while because my former Dr doubled up the amount she usually gives me at my last appt with her , so I dont have to ask the new Dr right away. If I get denied, then I am going to cannabis and then I will labeled " that patient that uses pot" , even though it is legal in Michigan.
Maybe if you still need pain meds after a few days your own Dr would be a better option - I know you couldnt see your own Dr today, you didnt have a choice.
