Sounds like nerve pain to me. One of the many "perks" associated with Fibromyalgia. A prescription med called Gabapentin is helpful for this issue. Take care.

Yes. I used to get it frequently. You could be experiencing allodynia and it can be very painful. It's frequent among fibromyalgia sufferers. . Here's an article by Adrienne Dellwo on the subject:

Definition: Allodynia is pain, generally on the skin, caused by something that wouldn't normally cause pain. Many people with fibromyalgia report having this symptom. Examples of allodynia are pain caused by mild pressure from clothing, a light touch, gentle massage, or sheets rubbing against the skin.
Allodynia is believed to be a hypersensitive reaction that may result from central sensitization, which is associated with fibromyalgia. The pain signals originate with specialized nerves, called nociceptors, that sense information about things like temperature and painful stimuli right from the skin.

Pain caused by touch is called tactile allodynia, while pain caused by movement against the skin (i.e., the brush of clothing) is called mechanical allodynia. Temperature-related pain is called thermal allodynia.

Other conditions associated with allodynia include neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia and migraines.

Thanks for the info. I have an apt. with my Dr. next week, and I will bring this up to him. I recently went off Savella, which I was on for a few years, and I believe this started just before I went off of it, so I don't think it has anything to do with going off the meds. I was diagnosed with fibro approx. 7 years ago. but have been in pain a lot longer than that. The pain in my arms though is different and fairly new.

I have both nerve pain and Allydonia. Generally, Allydonia is more of a bruised feeling and nerve pain burns which is what you described. Nerve pain tends to feel like a bad sunburn. Either way, you should talk to your doctor about it. Take care.

I am so glad someone else has mentioned this... (not glad that it affects you) I thought I was the only one. I will occassionally have a sensation that I liken to having a tattoo colored or getting a sunburn on a patch of skin on the back of my forearm.

It kind of feels like I am being pinched really really hard and the sensation lasts seconds to minutes. the pain goes all the way from my shoulders to my wrists and sometimes down the sides of my torso. If I lean against a wall, or brush up against something, itch myself or a hug can be very painful. It's different from my deep muscle pain/ache that I have everywhere, this is on the surface of the skin.

Yes! I have this and I am only 19 years old and I'm a prisoner in my own body =/
