What I find scary is the people with access to weapons of mass distruction and there mentallity if they believe in this 2012 doomsday what's to stop them from bringing it on early.

I was invited to a seminar "Will you survive the end of the world" if it had been closer I might have gone it might have been interesting.

The world is a powder keg and who knows what or who will set it off.

I've decided not to worry about it. If it happens I won't have to deal with my fibro anymore.

I've been praying about this since I saw it on the news last week. Again, they advised that the concept was far fetched. Many of threats from this man.....but not enough follow through.

I kept thinking of Boris and Tasha from Rocky and Bullwinkle. He was out to get everyone....

I'm interested in how Obama reacts to this. And one more thing to keep in mind. The odds of the missle hitting "on" target have got to be slim! Even during Pearl, they had to get close to hit their target.

what bothers me is "it has been proven that a missle CAN hit Hawaii" but instead of Obama worried about that he is more worried about the reelection in Iran. I think his prioritys are off. I don't know much about the military order of issues but bluesun if this does happen and Obama does nothing ddoes the military sit on there hands or do they do whats best?

Wonder, they have made significant advances in missle guidance technology. They can hit within a few feet of the target these days, thanks to the same GPS technology that guides us to unfamiliar places.

There are a lot of things not worth worrying about - but the ability to put a missle down your chimney isn't one to dismiss. I just hope all of this is sabre-rattling and that they are really not crazy enough to point something and shoot it in our direction.

Specialist, what makes you think that Obama is not worried about N Korea, or is more worried about Iran? If he IS worried more about Iran, I'd say it's probably because there are actually people dying in the streets there NOW, rather than being a concern for something that MIGHT or might not happen.

Bottom line - we don't have any idea what governmental priorities are until something happens and they respond. Obama was being called a wimp and other names during the pirate/hostage incident, and it turned out that behind the scenes there was a very detailed, and ultimately successful, plan being carried out.

Don't rush to judgement based on media reports - they have their own agenda and it's definitely not your well-being.

Please take a deep breath. While Kim J is doing nothing to ingratiate himself to the world, he does not have the technology. The last test of his missile in April this year failed. They think he doesn't have the range. He is posturing. And he's nuts. Of course this is frightening, I would get shaky hearing stuff like this if I were you. It makes me shaky hearing about it and I'm on the East Coast of the U.S. But all of us are in the same boat w/this. (no such thing as a small nuke exchange in real life--but this will not be the case.) Don't let yourself be terrorized; learn all you can about the situation and you will feel better. I just have to speak up now. I think if we're truly concerned about a specific issue, it behooves us all to do our research before assuming there has been a lack of action by our administration. We would have to be terribly naive to think that Obama, Clinton and the whole defense department hasn't already put measures in place to defend Hawaii. Hawaii is a strategic military presence in the Pacific and I'm certain there will never be another Pearl Harbor. It wouldn't be wise to expain to the world, in detail, everything the US is doing with regard to our defense strategy and technology involved in doing so. I've read some articles on the recent events with North Korea and THERE ARE LOTS of things being done to defend Hawaii right now. One thing that was mentioned was the specialized radar system that was launched in the Pacific between Hawaii and North Korea.

Remember, it is our military leaders/Generals that are the experts of defending our country. Our President relies on THEM to inform him and help make important decisions.

yes that is true.... but the military needs the prez CONSENT before they fire on anything. they are gearing up the military around here for N Korea's attack....

they are also tracking a ship that may contain "fire power" close enough to reach us.

and the reason why the media is so focused on Iran right now, isn't because there are people dying in the streets.... if that were the case, they would be focusing on MANY countries right now!! but the media is told to focus on it so that our ATTENTION is away from the missiles aimed at us. basically it's to defer us from having a national panic. trust me, i was in the Marines and was at the Pentagon day after day.... politics are DIRTY. there are many 2 faced people up there and they say what you WANT to hear but it's a whole nother plan going on behind the scenes!

how do you think Obama won? he had no experience! he just knew what everyone wanted to hear! so many politicians do that, it's why they are politicians.

but we should make SOME kind of preparations, or i would be NAIVE. we have NO basements here, as it is against building codes to have any. majority of houses are build above the ground and on low pillars (some high depending on flood zones). there is a tunneling system thru out the island left over from the WWII days but they closed off all the entrances with concrete. i guess if they send an ALARM thru out the island to take cover due to a missile on it's way, we would be screwed! but there is a cave 20 mins up the road, i guess the question would be how long till impact?? we prolly won't have enough time to drive up there and seek cover.

BUT i'll make sure that we devise some kind of plan for cover.... i 'll make sure we have canned goods and water in stock for at least 1 week of survival JUST IN CASE . i think that should be enough time, right? what do you think?

I do agree that there is bias in our media. Personally, I think we're not told about half the things we should be told be about.

And Blue, I certainly didn't mean to make this sound like it's no big deal. It's a huge deal and it has to be scary living there right now. However, I don't think the President is going to make anyone wait for a decision to blow up a missile heading towards Hawaii. Of course he would be notified immediately, but there has to be standing orders on what to do if this happens.

Has there been any talk over there on what to do in a case of emergency? I was just curious as to what your local news is saying or doing about this threat. Also, have you spoken to anyone that you know that's still in the Marines that may be able to give you their insight? That might give you a little more peace of mind.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I'll be praying for you and hope that this added stress doesn't affect your fibro. I just wish there were more women as heads of state in this crazy world we live in! I would hope there would be more emphasis on peace!

well, i can have my bf call the Marine base up there, he still knows a bunch there. and we can ask em the scope of things. i'm also gonna make some calls to the satellite bases and get more info. i worked in one of the offices there for about 6 months and still know lots of people there. they would most likely have some very good info, if you know what i mean.

so far local news isn't covering much of it. which disappoints me.... we should be educated about this. i'll try to get some info from the satellite communications station and maybe get the press on their ass to get SOME KIND of info out there about what it is we should be ready for.

forget Iran.... this is more of a threat right now if you ask me. especially since N korea stated that they WANT TO BLOW US AWAY and all our allies. if you ask me, that IS a declaration of war! if i could, i would reenlist and fight those damn bastards! but thanks to this fibro crap, i'm stuck tryin to figure out what to do from here.
