OMG,I have to say that I am so pleased that I am not the only one who feels like this,I was so worried about it and too embarresed to talk about it,I used to be very highly sexed and now I have no interest in it let alone the ability to do 'it' without suffering with awful pain after.
I do feel bad for my partner and I also know that I am fortunate in the fact that he is understanding and tolerant of this.

I also want to say that my hubby has been through it all with me. One day I was feeling a little frisky and want to get a little lol, he said that he can't get "in the mood" when he knows I am hurting.

It's so nice to know that my man does get it and doesn't even ask when he knows I'm in pain...I love that man sigh :~)

I never imagined that so many suffer with this too, nor did I think I would get so many replies.
I told a couple of very good friends of mine that I had posted this question...they just laughed and said..."leave it to you to do that" ..I have always been a very honest and open person, and everyone here has made me feel so comfortable, and helpful, that I didnt think anyone would mind me asking such a personal question. YOU ALL ARE GREAT FRIENDS...even tho...we really dont know each other personally...thanks!
One thing that caught me by surprise..I had heard of women suffering from valvoldynia, and I am sorry for those of you who have this, but maybe I didnt make myself clear..that is not where I hurt after "getting a little" as firefly called it..(lol). Instead I was talking about the muscles in my legs, arms, and yes...butt cheeks.lol...as if I had really worked out hard, and the pain lasts for DAYS!!
Wonderbaby, I am so glad that you decided to reply to this as well. Believe me..it was not that easy to bring it up. In a way...I felt I had to. Sure I have friends that I can talk to ..and tell them the pain I am in afterwards...but they don't and can't REALLY understand as well as we all do here.
Also figured...what the heck...we can talk about..or say we have IBS...and to me...that is pretty personal too. lol

I am only 24 and have been contemplating on whether or not to post about this very topic but I guess I will reply about it since so many of you have. I get the very bad muscle pain after sex like most of you but lately I have been hurting really badly during sex "down there." I am scared that it isn't from the Fibro but I'm not sure. Afterwards I burn in that area and have a tiny bit of bleeding. I thought at first it might be because I'm too dry in that area but we use lubrication so I don't think that is it. Sorry for the graphic words but do any of you have these problems? I am going to make an appointment with my gyno but I just have so many other appts for so many other doctors that it is getting out of control. My hubby is so understanding and feels so bad when we have sex because he knows that it hurts. I just don't know how long we can go on like this before he gets tired of it. We are only 24 years old. I feel like I'm robbing him.

I am 52 and have been married for several yrs. Actually this is my second time around for that..lol.
Do you have any children yet?..the reason I am asking is...I had this same problem with my husband...the one I am married to now. You described exactly what I went thru a few yrs ago. Like you say..not wanting to be too graphic here..but my husband is larger than my X...I told my doc about it..he checked me out for several reasons that this may have been happening. Everything was fine with me, except my uterus was tipped slightly. This was causing me to bleed somewhat, and during sex it was like a sharp pain inside, then the burning afterwards. My doc told me we have 2 choices here..I could have a hysterectomy (sp?)...or my husband could take off a couple of inches....lol...of course he was kidding..so I opted to have the hysterectomy. (BOY WAS MY HUSBAND GLAD OF THAT!..LOL) Since then I dont have any of those symptoms.
I had already had 2 children and we knew we didnt want anymore..that is why I asked if you had any children yet.
Anyway...you may want to ask your Dr. if you have a tipped uterus as well.
I am not saying this is what is causing you the pain inside...just what happened to me.
Hope you find an answer.

Lori, I just want to thank you for having the courage to post about this. Obviously it has touched a lot of people and your courage has allowed others to bring this concern out into the light so they, and hopefully you as well, can find solutions.

While, like most everything concerning fibro, the problems and the solutions will be different for each of us, I believe you have started many people on the path to better relationships, even if only for the honesty of addressing this issue openly.

hiya lik xx i know exactly where you are coming from about the extreme pain after making love, Ive also found loss of libido since going back on the pill. Hubs been so supportive when i try to explain, but i can feel him getting frustrated, which then makes me feel guilty(again!) love lorri xxxxx

I have had fibro for years and totally understand where you are all coming from so I talked to my gyno. He said that it had nothing to do with the fibro but from a lack of hormones. So he put me on hormones and removed my uterus at the same time. Well it didn't help either. Well I talked with my rhemo and she said that was stupid. No sex drive is really common with fibro. So we are all normal which is a good thing but it doesn't help when you are young and always in pain. My husband too is so understanding and has realized that there is nothing that can be done for the problem until they find a cure for this thing.

Here's my problem- #1 is the pain. There are times when we wanted to be "spontaneous" and my hip or other body part was to stiff to "work right." There are times when I was somewhat limber but sore in that area. I almost despise any foreplay because of the oversenstivity and pain. #2 I hurt for days after, so mentally, it's hard to get myself excited about anything, when knowing what will come from it. #3, the combination of the above problems has ruined my drive- I want to do this and that but my body does not ready itself (at least not like it used to). I hope that can be fixed because our relationship was great, now it's just good from time to time.
