My husband had a really bad night last night and couldn't sleep at all because of pain, even though he took melatonin and a aleeping pill. I'm not aure when he finally went to sleep but I know he was still awake at 6:30 and he was asleep the next time I checked at 9 am.
A couple months ago he had his days and nights mixed up and was never going to sleep before 4:30 or 5 am and then sleeping until 3 pm. It took sleeping pills to get him out of that routine and it was just getting better lately, then this happened...
today I'm not sure what to do. Should I let him sleep as long as he wants, because sleep is needed for the body to recover? Or should I wake him up and encourage him to be awake so he can hopefully sleep tonight?
He doesn't want his days and nights mixed up because its a lonely life and because he does want to get back to work some time in the next few months...
Any ideas?

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. He possibly needs that extra sleep to recover from the restless night and overdoing it before that.
At least he can take sleeping pills to help with that. My daughter is one of the very small minority that reacts to sleeping pills by becoming hyper :-)
Melatonin is our friend, but it only helps her to get useful sleep sometimes. She has been able to sleep better with a calcium and magnesium suppliment.
Why wake him? Hope that he is able to be comfortable.
I can't sleep b/c my hubby can't---he has insomnia and kindly shared it with me---so....let your hubby sleep, and ask a doc about the best way to help him find a good sleep schedule and good sleep quality. I hate sleeping pills but I have found my GP had several good ideas for my particular situation.
Good luck, and goo dnight. Morning. Whatever the heck it is....
