You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
I was wondering if any could suggest how to navigate this disorder with my PCP. I'm getting a physical soon & I'm concerned about being able to take a class that will be all day (8 hours) for the whole semester. I'm beyond my threshold for pain just doing the basics. Plus, I have plantar fasciitis in both feet! I can't even begin to describe what a day feels like; all the while, trying to navigate & understand fibromyalgia.

I'm alive, I'm sleeping like a rock, and for some reason I wanted cherry juice so that seems to be helping. (??? Weirdo that I am.)***Infamous therapies over history:1. The Attic. The madwoman in the attic is a motif in literature going waaaaaay back: the nutty female relative is locked in the attic. (See: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for a grotesquely racist version of it, and Charlotte Perkins...

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

First things first, address those feet! I've had a mild case in one foot and that did me in, so I can't imagine.
Second, we always advise Fibromyalgia for Dummies as a good guideline bookd for us and those around us. PCPs are not a great doctor to deal with fibro, and if you don't have a specialist's written-out diagnosis and such, to show a PCP? They can be utter a-hats or they can be totally amazing or ... Yeah. I just make sure my specialists keep my PCPs informed and, if needed, in line.
Finally, again, welcome, and yeah. Stand on a nest of wasps all day while carrying a railroad crosstie, and taht's pretty much my way to describe good old fibro. (Diagnosed in 1995. Stillllll kicking! Gently. Reallllly gently kicking.)
Cheers,
Leo
Your feet, on top of fybo is a lot to handle. Perhaps you could get a doctors note and reduce your schedule a little if that is possible? I hate to see you set yourself up for the impossible. I think taking care of yourself is a huge part of living well with any chronic pain. Take care honey and be good to yourself. xo
PF is nothing to fool around with or ignore. I have it in both feet. The right one was particularly bad. You should not wear backless shoes or shoes that are not hard soled. And, never walk barefoot. The minute you are out of the shower, shoes must be put back on. A tennis shoe will further damage the tendon that already has micro tears in it which is why you wear a hard sole. See a podiatrist with a background in sports medicine to be fitted for custom orthotics and treatment. You will definitely need an anti inflammatory like Mobic and possibly a cortisone injection to get it under control. PF can cause a lot of damage and can be persistent.
You can ask for accommodation at school. Fibromyalgia is a chronic illness and pacing is very important.
As Leo said, the book "Fibromyalgia for Dummies" is our go to book and a very good reference tool to keep on hand. You can find it on Amazon.
Take care.
