Hi everyone! I am so excited to have found this web-site. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia for several years, but being a skeptic, I changed Dr.'s only to be told I have Fibromyalgia. I don't know if it is because I am stubborn or I don't want to believe it. In 2010, I went the Scottsdale AZ, Mayo Clinic for gastro issues. I lost 28 lbs. in 3 months and was extremely fatigued as usual. After all the testing they said you have Fibromyalgia which has caused Gastroparesis (partial paralysis of the stomach). After a diet change I have gotten back to a healthy weight but still struggle with the other fibro stuff. Do any of you have sensitivity to fluorescent lights, medications, water temps (warm and hot baths), smells etc.. I would love any input. I currently take Cymbalta, Temazapam, Xanax and Omeprazole. I suffer with SAF and really struggle in the winter months. I also live in Colorado, where the barometer pressure kicks my butt.

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. I will say "yes" to your list of sensitivities. Particularly medication.
If you don't have a copy of the book "Fibromyalgia for Dummies", I highly recommend it. You can purchase it online at Amazon. It will give you a comprehensive overview of this complex illness. Knowledge is power.
Enjoy your weekend.
I can definitely relate to the fluorescent lights and too strongly scented products.
Am living in igloo country and this winter has been kicking my butt!! Time to kick back though......
This is a fantastic support group with lots of information and so on. Daily check-ins are inspiring!
I have all the sensitivities you listed and many of us fibro people do. Part of the nervous system "the flight or fight " part is in over drive and causes a lot of other symptoms - it is not just a widespread pain illness.
Welcome to the group! I am new here as well having been recently diagnosed. I know what you mean about being stubborn and going into denial. I do it everyday! I hope you get the support you are looking for here. I find it very informative :)
I do have sensitivity to fluorescent lights, allergies to many medications, and smells.
I've heard about gastro paresis from a couple people who also have fibromyalgia, so you're not the only one.
Changes in barometric pressure can definitely affect symptoms of fibromyalgia. I get migraines and extra achy and flu feeling from it.
I will order the book Fibromyalgia for Dummies. I never heard of it before. Thanks again. Its nice to have others to relate too.
Communication is key.....My kids are older, but I always say something like "I cannot focus on that right now, give me half an hour or so and I will. If I forget, please remind me." Works great with them. The husband department is a different story; major tune up is in order!
Good that your husband is understanding and supportive; it's half the battle. Keep communicating your needs.......
