Hello all Im new to the group my name is Lisa Im 42 yrs old and have had fibro for the last 10 yrs.... Never in a milllion yrs did I think at my age I'd have so many health issues.... I have other health issues as well that I had to quit working 8 yrs ago and am now on disability........ Do I miss working??? yes... Do I miss the social interaction?? Yes...... Do I miss the 1 hr commute one way??? No........ I live in a high rise where I reside yes I found my fiancee here but other than him I dont have too much social interaction.... Because of the simple fact as many of you know one dont really dont know day to day how theyre going to feel....... I was friends with someone when I first moved here 2 yrs ago but she doesnt understand like most ppl who dont suffer from fibro doesnt understand our lives on a daily soooo she eventually quit asking me to go out.... My other "so called friends" are to busy with their lives.... It sucks not really having too much of a social circle..........

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

Commuting is such a taxing thing. It's for me one of the most prohibitive things for going out and doing something. People never seem to grasp that I have to factor in the travel time - especially since we only use public transport. "Just come by for an hour!" And it doesn't register that one-way travel is also about an hour, so they're demanding three times as much energy from me as they think they are.
Feelings of loneliness and social isolation are themes I see come up a lot in us fibro folk. I started getting symptoms in my late teens and had no friends left five years later. My partner and people online are about the only ones I have contact with.
So feel free to join in on the chatter. :) I know many of us here feel like you do. There's a daily check-in hosted by the wonderful Leo where people come to talk to each other about every-day life. You can post as little or as much as you need here.
Take care!
Geez, Sonya keeps beating me to it this week, LOL! I'm usually the early bird here. First off, most of us rely on "Fibro for Dummies", and it's good for our families and friends to read to understand fibro, help figure out coping mechanisms, and just feel less nuts b/c OMG, people can be so clueless. Ask, vent, whatever you want:-) We're here.
I can relate to your comments about social interaction and not being able to plan much or anything in advance. With careful pacing and planning I pretty much manage to live my life albeit at a much slower pace.
Join us on check in that our lovely spokesmodel, Leo hosts every morning. She is our Head Nerd who regales us with interesting trivia and funny stories. It is a good way to get to know everyone and for us to get to know you. This is a good group and I hope that you will find it helpful.
