I was diagnosed with FM in 2007. I kept having really bad inflammation in my legs and a host of other symptoms. I went to several doctors with no answer. Well, In 2011, I went to a new doctor who told me I have Lupus. Because of other health concerns I didn't take medicine to specifically treat the Lupus. Those health concerns are settled and I wanted to treat the Lupus so last week I saw another Rheumatologist who I'd heard good things about. I was going in to tell him I was ready to start a Lupus medicine. My joints and muscles hurt all the time, I have headaches, insomnia, BAD stomach pain, and problems with my liver. (those are just a few of the symptoms)
Well... this Rheumy told me that he doesn't agree with the doctor that told me I have Lupus. He did some tests and I should hear back this week.
I'm nervous. What if all this time I didn't have Lupus? That would be great news, but I feel SO STUPID. I think I'm just scared to hear that they cannot find anything wrong with me physically. That's the worst thing sometimes to hear. Especially if Lupus is what my family and close friends think has been wrong with me. I hate being in this hell, and I know I'm not making this up. I just feel like the new doctor will judge me or something. I was told (when I first started getting big symptoms) by so many doctors that there is nothing wrong with me. I just am afraid this one is going to tell me that I've been living as someone who has Lupus, when I really don't have it and he can find nothing wrong. It makes me feel like I'm a liar or something. Does that make sense?

Now it's been a few years since I had to be tough and I need to buck up. I'm giving him a week to call me back on his own with results. I will call him on Thursday if I don't hear from him.
I know that feeling of frustration, and fear of the test not finding any thing wrong, and then feeling like I should be happy that every thing came back normal.
Its so hard to be stuck in this turmoil of not wanting to have any thing really wrong, and being able to be what we use to be, but knowing that this is just not what our life is like any more.
I really dislike how other judge us, and how we let them make us feel guilty, or stupid about this stuff. But what we are feeling and how we are dealing with it, is what makes us strong, even though we might not feel like that at times.
We are not stupid, your are not stupid, or any thing else negative you might say about your self. You are just trying to survive what life has thrown you, and make that best out of a bad situation. (Not knowing what is going on, and when you finally do, taking care of your self)
Like Fantod said, try to take a deep breath and calm yourself down, I know easier said then done, for me too. Then see what the Dr. says, and take it one step at a time.
Well that is how I try to deal with all this stuff.
Sending you some positive, caring thoughts.
Since I was about 24 when these things started, the doctors also tried to say I was trying to get pain pills. So, even though I desperately wanted some relief, I started prefacing the appointments by saying that I didn't want any type of pain medicine, that I was there to get answers.
I've gotten some strength from yall's replies and talking with my hubby. He says if the doctor calls and tells me the old "it's in your head" routine then we are going to hang up on him. Lol
