What do u mean by redetermination-did the case go to quality review or is it a contining disability review?

When I was awarded disability, I remember reading that they can make a redeterminaton and you may lose it, but I don't know of it ever happening.

Yes I know of one person that happened to but IMHO he deserved it - he was collecting his disability and working full time - and not because he needs the money - just because he likes to work.

I'm not trying to be judgmental - but from his own mouth I was told he didn't need the money and was perfectly able to work but would collect it for as long as they would give it to him.

Other than that, no - redetermination is a random process and it doesn't mean they're trying to "gotcha" - just that your number came up in the computer.

I'm not sure what the difference between SSD and SSDI is or if you are referring to the same, but there was an article in the WSJ in Dec that said Republicans have asked the SSA to review and redetermine a number of claims. Here is the article

When I won my SSD case finally in 2009 they told me I would be reviewed in 7 yrs. I have no idea if this is normal.

So far its just as I expected.. lol.. Glad that the govt got that guy. And Yep about the 7 years.. now that you mention it I think I was told the same.

There are several types of cases where a redetermination is made, and yes, the approval can be reversed. It is rare to happen, though, because someone attempting to bilk the system usually messes up somewhere.
Certain mental illnesses where the final disability assessment was not completed at time of approval are subject to detailed review as well.
In my case, I was approved, however, the judge said my disability assessment was incomplete, and that it would be reviewed again. I have been working for the past year to obtain the psychiatric evaluation, functional capacity evaluation, medical evaluation, and have it prepared for the review.
It is important to ensure that what you placed on your original disability application is what you see as your disability level, because you signed this application.

I hope it is true because I have a redetermination consultation with a doctor next week. I couldn't get ssdi based solely on fms,, so my psychiatrist used my ptsd, which in no way is under control. The only thing is, I have already been denied because I went over my maximum allowable income by like 50 dollars for three months. So now I am fighting that, too. Anyone have any information on the likelihood of me being reinstated now that I have had to change jobs to get less hours, and incidentally less pay, I would appreciate it. But it is comforting to know the other thing. Thanks for posting

I totally can't handle any sort of stress. I am in pain somewhere on my body most of the time. I get dizzy a lot and I fall a lot. I am currently off work with a cast on my foot because I tripped a rolled my ankle at work. I have tried jobs that require me to stand for long periods of time and I just can't do it. My specialty is office jobs, but the last two turned out to be a disaster. Kept screwing ip. Hard to get another office job with that on my record. The job I was working where I went over the income was a stay at home job where I picked my own times to work. It wasn't my income that caused me to go over. I got a commision for every job I booked, and I never knew how much it was going to be, and it was considered part of my income, so that is why I went over. I definitely have no question about whether I am sick enough to be on ssdi or not, I definitely am. So with this in mind and the posts in this thread, I feel a little less scared about the review.
