Wednesday. My FIL found her in the kitchen floor. He refused to call an ambulance. She refused medical treatment. PD had taken Thursday and Friday off anyway, so he went down there. Had to call an ambulance just to get her out of the house. After 9 hours and multiple CT scans they say she has fractured one of the vertebrae in her lower back and sent her home with Tylenol. She can't stand at all. She can't walk. Today I moved my bike into the family room, a bunch of other stuff into the garage including my husbands recliner, and carried a twin bed down two flights by myself. PD had to bring her here because my FIL was doing nothing to help her and when he did help her he was extremely rough and uncaring. Told her she was lazy for wanting to use a wheel chair, when really he just didn't want to clean his messy house. So my SIL is coming Monday and staying the week. Puppymommom has also volunteered to come up and stay for a few days because my MIL obviously can't be left alone.
This poor woman's brain. I would love to see the cat scan. I bet it looks like Swiss cheese. She seems to have forgotten that she can't stand me. She's also delighted over the smallest things, in the way that people suffering neglect can be.
In fairness to my FIL, the fracture should not stop her from walking etc. Not sure how much of her medical problem is part delusion-- she heard fractured and equated it to a broken back with cord involvement. That's not what she has going on. She screams and claims her "legs collapse" if you try to get her to stand. She also clearly enjoys being pushed around in the wheelchair. The films just don't support her symptoms at all.
So here we are. . . Any good energy you can send our way is appreciated.

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

My MIL failed the competency test on the 3rd question at the hospital. She knew where she was. She knew her name. She could not tell them the year. Couldn't even guess. The ER doc to PD, " You have a REAL problem here." She also keeps asking me why my FIL has been so mean to her. I told her he clearly has a personality disorder and maybe can't help it, but assured her that she was safe.
