my left arm part 2

Well, I finally gave in and went to the ER Friday night at 8 pm. I have a broken radial head - how that happened I have no idea - no falls etc .
Also, the Dr thinks I might have a blood clot , so I have to go back to the hospital Saturday AM and get a venous ultrasound of my left arm.

The gave me a blood thinner shot in my stomach and a pain shot and a sling.

Oh my. So glad you went to ER. What a surprising dx. But it does make sense. Well, I hope you are now onto a speedy recovery. Still sending you warm comforting hugs.

Oh, I'm so glad you went to the ER, as miserable as those places can be. Blood clots are scary.

If you did have a blood clot there are some tests to see if there is an autoimmune disease going on. It is called Hughes disease. (Dr. Hughes believes that a lot of fibro is misdiagnosed Hughes. You can look up the Hughes Charity website and look up blood tests). If you want them done you may have to bring in the list of tests, since it isn't well known in the US. If you test positive finding a knowledgeable Dr. In the US is a challenge. Some kinds of spontaneous broken bones are a symptom of Hughes, but I think it is the metatarsals mostly.

Glad you went to the hosp. Sounds like you have found something you can fix. Do you have Osteoporosis?

Oh thank God you went, Milily! So glad you got a dx! BTW, radial heads? My MIL broke hers after she "jammed" her arm---slipped, braced, didn't even fall---ouchie! And I am so glad they're tending that blood clot. Literally, just felt my own BP drop in relief for you. Keep us posted, okay?

Thanks for your replies everyone. No clot in the arm - thank goodness. In addition to the radial neck fracture I have medial elbow tendinitis.of the left arm. I am in a world of pain. They referred me to an orthopedic Dr - so Monday I will call to set that up.

I was suppose to just get the test to rule out the clot this AM. What they did was re admit me to the ER and I had to start all over with another Dr. My son and I were there again today for another 4 hours. I am very angry about this. I will now get charged for 2 ER visits plus the tests - I have insurance but the copays add up - all because Friday it took over 2 hours for a Dr to just look at my arm and by then the techs for the test were gone for the night.

I really wish I could take anti-inflammatory meds. The Percocets I have from my medical Dr are not helping.
