I had a friend with epilepsy years ago. The meds helped them alot. I havent read anything about it lately but I think they even have surgery to help them and the meds are alot better.

Continued prayers for you and your daughter. Hopefully it is very mild and something that she will outgrow. Thank you so much for letting us know.

It's so scary to hear your child has something wrong. I have 4 kids myself, 2 of them are mildly Autistic, and one of those two is bipolar with psychotic tendencies. There is nothing worse than the constant worry about a sick child. I feel for you and wish you luck with your consultation. The decision whether or not to medicate a child is also a very very stressful one. Im new, but Im not new to this sort of thing...if you need a friend, Im here.

I am really just following through with everything about my little girl. Not too very upset by it, because she's still who she is, and no real health concerns right now... but ...

so, we have an appointment with a ped neuro in April! The first available was going to be June, but they had a cancelation! When my granddaughter was an infant her mother/my daughter took her to this doc and we just loved his way. So I'm pleased there. But April is so far away...

in the meantime, some genetic testing she had done came back and she is missing a rather significant bit of genetic material. So this is something to follow up on. It may be related to the seizure. Or it may not be. Remains to be seen. It's not something that's in the published literature much so there's not a whole lot known about this part and what it might involve. Just some good guesses related to close genes.

It's definitely on my mind, but not all~consuming. But thanks for concerns and always for prayers!

Glad you got answers! The scariest part is always waiting to find out if it's *something* or "benign". The book is a great idea:-) Don't worry, and if your daughter gets scared, just tell her you know someone who has lived with epilepsy for over 20 years, and has a fabulous life! (You can skip the FM part, LOL!)

Thanks, thanks! Leo, love your great attitude, and appreciate it! My girlie is so little, and pretty unaware of the whole issue I'm dealing with at present. Thankfully, there's only been the one siezure that I'm aware of. For all I know she's had others in her sleep as that one was... she just happened to be next to me at that time.

The genetic issue is a biggie. There are some metabolic questions as well, and it might all be tied in together.

Glad you got some answers! It's hard to get into a DR sometimes, I would ask them to keep you on a cancellation list if something opens up sooner. Hope they figure everything out soon. Sending prayers your way.
