I just read all 26 answers to Multiple Illness.
My question is: Can all of these illnesses be associated with Fibro?
I have been on here a few years and I did not understand how some of us don't suffer too bad on here and then there are others who are totally debilitated from it. Can something else be going on? Are some of us misdiagnosed?
My bloods come back normal, my MRI comes out ok, my CAT scan comes out showing arthritis of the spine in a few different places. I was diagnosed with Fibro Sept 2010.
Since August my doctor has taken me out of work and my body is getting worse. My symptoms are balance, perception off, dry eyes, left side weakness, feet hurt, all over body pain. I have pericarditis and pleurisy.
I am 61 going on 91. Do we have something else or is all of this caused by fiber?
Please help me understand this.

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. This is a disorder of the central nervous system. The mechanism that causes it is not understood. In some people, it can be triggered by high levels of stress, an accident, surgery, childbirth, emotional abuse to name some examples. In my case, high levels of stress coupled with my underlying health issues were more than my central nervous system could handle.
The list of underlying conditions that can be associated with Fibromyalgia is staggeringly long. Take care.

I feel bad for all of us!
Thank you for your help with this.
Fibro is not a one size fits all in severity. Some people have it mild, some moderate, some severe. Some people get better (not cured - although there have been some with remission) , some stay the same, and some get worse.
Anyway, I found this book at Amazon: Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain: A Survival Manual, 2nd Edition, by Devin Starlanyl and Mary Ellen Copeland. It really clarifies for me which are "co-existing conditions" and which are "diagnoses of exclusion". Even many doctors get confused and prescribe the wrong treatments! It talks about what to do and what not to do. I wish I had known earlier so that I wouldn't have done things to exacerbate it. This book was published in 2001, but I couldn't find a more recent edition.
I have multiple chemical sensitivities. I treat all medication like cyanide. However,I can tolerate a low dose of Cymbalta and Gabapentin. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Take care.
What this all boils down to for me is If I don't take the pills I feel a lot worse. It took a while to get to the best combination. Good luck.
