Well, we're due for wintry weather even here, so
1. have batteries, matches/candles, and extra blankets already out and ready
2. make sure you have a camp stove if your stove requires electricity to run (and camp stove fuel)
3. firewood if you have a fireplace and Thermacares if you don't. Weird fact ---- those work under a sweatsghirt and help keep you toasty!
4. Food you can eat without cooking it
5. A bag of ice for your fridge just in case you don't get everything into a coooler in the cold in time. Which, btw, is why I have to haul a cooler outside to our catio. This is how I save our food in power outages.. We have ice predicted, so I am gearing up for the worst. Then it wobn't happen!
How IS everyone on the FIRST OF DECEMBER! We almost made it through 2025, can you believe it? AJ, Blue, Millilly, Puppy, Fan, Miki, and everyone I forgot b/c it's Monday morning: HUGS to keep you going!

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
My back is slowly getting better, but it's still very sore and I still have to move very carefully. Jackie is ranting about it being cold -_-. I am not looking forward to this week because it's probably going to be busy here, idk if I'll be able to lift dogs on Thursday, and on Saturday Miki is having some teeth out, then Sunday is my mom's birthday. Too much going on and too much people, even though I didn't do anything social for the past 3 days.
I can't believe it is almost 2026. Wth?
Leo, thanks for the shoutout. I am a tropical flower and I hate cold weather, I especially hate snow. I need my warm sunshine, ocean breezes, and sandy beaches. So glad I don't live anywhere north. I hope the snow storm isn't too bad and your power stays on. Thanks for the prep list.
Puppy, I am sorry your mom ended up moving in with you. I totally feel your exhaustion and so glad she moved out. My mom moved in with us nearly 2 years ago. She was in and out of the hospital with heart failure and ultimately ended up having open heart surgery. It completely turned our lives upside-down because she needed help around the clock. She is doing better now and I am so ready for her to move out. Smart thinking getting a generator. We got one, too. It doesn't often snow here in south Texas, but every once in a rare time they have a power outage here. Better safe than sorry, right?
Milily, I am sorry I missed you the other day. I hope you are well.
It has been in the 40s here at night and our HVAC struggled all night to kick on. It would make a bunch of clicking sounds before finally turning on. It did the same thing last winter and someone came out to fix it. We called the same guy to come back today and do whatever he did last winter. He should be here in about a half hour.. I am so glad our winters are mild here.... those winters you all get up there would totally kill me. Like I would turn into a block of ice.
Thanksgiving was nice and small. The recruits had a good time and they liked having fresh baked cookies, deviled eggs (for appetizers), and Thanksgiving dinner.
About 15 people from life group came out to lunch and practiced some Christmas songs for a church event. It was nice sharing our home with them. We have all the interior Christmas decorations up and they said it feels "cozy". :)
I miss summer! I hope you all's power stays on and you all stay warm. Bbrrrr! Hugs
Blue, yay,g ood to see you!
Miki, I am ready emotionally but must admit, I gr3we up used to snow much earlier than down here usually gets. Today was first day of buck season and my uncle was like, "Whoo! Good deep snow slows them down, I got myself a nice 6 pointer to share with the kids".
Ceilidh is having problems. I took her in today for a look see. Very stressed about it because money. She's about 15. I took a very conservative route treatment wise. Had her Xrayed. No masses or anything else. Teeth are OK. Brought her home on gabapentin and an appetite stimulant. We'll see how that goes, She is currently stoned out of her mind and resting quietly.
We have two generators. The small one can power just about everything. The big one can handle the central AC too. I'd love to switch one out for a multi fuel generator. Propane would be ideal. A lot cheaper than petrol. I'm always thinking ahead when it comes to winter weather. I already have gas line antifreeze on hand. Bought a case of it. We are getting some snow tonight but it's only a couple of inches. Snow shovels are deployed outside around the house. We have plenty of options inside to stay warm. And, generally plenty of food options.
I just completed a huge online order from one of the local warehouse clubs. I am trying to stock the pantry ahead of the financial drought in
January. I was supposed to get $20 off of my order automatically. I'll have to call them in the morning or go to the front desk. I had a lot of trouble just getting the digital coupons clipped. I'm sure their system was overrun.
Hey PuppyMom - I saw you posted yesterday too. Great to have you back. I'm so sorry that you had all of that stress with your Mom. Your MIL was more than enough. Stay home tomorrow just because you can!
Hi Blue - I'm glad that you got a generator. The weather is so unstable these days. I hope that your HVAC is now running properly. Sounds like you had a busy but nice Thanksgiving.
Waves to Milily!
That's it for me. I need some down time to get the squirrel in my brain to settle down. Group hug!
