Good morning! (At last!) OMG. What a kerfuffle just trying to get connected to the so-called included-premium internet! Yikes. Took me 30 minutes.
Anyway, woke to and watched sunrise on the beach with a line of cargo ships stretched out on the horizon awaiting port entry to the north of here, but slept *terrible*. Too long in the car, y'know? I keep forgetting that any time google promises a three-hour trip, add an hour, LOL. It's the Google Factor, kinda like Planck's constant in physics. For every three time units given by google maps, add one more. Thus, three minutes equals four, fifteen equals twenty, and so forth.

We are on the top floor of this particular hotel. Freaky. We have a great view of the rebuilding from the last hurricane to rip through. The beach was, of course, significantly reduced, and it's kinda funny to see the waves breaking. The patterns are erratic as the dickens, bc of the weird ways the sand was washed out in bars/clumps. There are a couple spots about 50 yards offshore where you could stand and be ankle-deep, but if you're at the edge of the actual current beach, you're waist deep. They're working on it with all kinds of machinery, naturally, to make sure they have X yards of beach between the famed Virginia Beach boardwalk and the water's edge at any given time. You can see in very old photos, from the 1920s-30s, that the beach extended out about a quarter-mile from the boardwalk. Now? Not even close.

And that's about all I've got, sorry. Four hours of sleep, pain, blah blah blah, and I need to grab food. I will return later, but am sending everyone big warm hugs, and peaceful waters for your day!

Well, our drought isn't broken but our gutter is. Got two big storms rigth after each other and, wait for it, a tornado warning. Now, I was already running for my go-bag when I heard thunder. The air felt wrong. The sky was getting a color to the west. Been there, lived that, time to hide.No funnel touched down but the radar indicated rotation, and boy was it visible from the ground. Different...

My cat is going on trial for crimes against skink-anity. SIX in six weeks. Three this last week alone. The crack is maybe 1/4 inche wide. Maybe. Skink skitters past, her paw shoots out, her claw hooks in, she yanks, and somehow, having defied physics... WHAM. Skink-o-rama.Now, don't get me wrong, it's nice that she's a pesticidal maniac, but OMG. Skinks do no harm. They don't come inside. WTF.So,...
Good Monday, everyone
Leo, that sounds like a pretty view. I love looking at the ocean... it's so relaxing and hypnotizing. I'm so glad you have this time away and hope you sleep better tonight. I can't stand long car rides either. 1 hr is my tops unless I have cushy, fluffy pillows under, behind, etc and room to spread out. You might as well give me a van / RV.
Downpour right now. Weather's been kinda yucky for 4-5 days now. But at least it gives me a break from watering the garden (other than the potted plants on the porch).
My cheek (and part of my upper lip & nose) is still slightly puffy and tender to the touch. I have a feeling it has something to do with the local anesthetic they used. last time all the numbed areas were tender for like a week, but I don't think they were puffy. Then again, it wasn't surgery. Anyway, I'll be calling the dentist office shortly to ask if it's normal after surgery.
I can't believe Nov is sneaking up on us already. My mom will be here soon and we still don't have everything ready yet. We ordered a mattress and the husband bought a bed frame yesterday. The mattress better get here before she does. Things can take so long to get here. A friend might be coming over today to install another safety bar in the bathroom or railing in the living room. Hopefully it will all get done before she gets here.
The previous tenants left a mini fridge on the porch that is so dirty inside. The husband plugged it in to see of it works, if it does, we'll clean it out and put it in our bedroom. lol
FallingL & Sonya, my 13 y/o cat who weighs 15 lbs depending on his mood some times wants snuggles and sometimes he wants to be left alone. He used to want snuggles all the time when he was younger. But he used to sleep with me every night before I got fibro. Since then I have to keep him out because he likes to sleep right on your body somewhere. 15 lbs feels like a heavy boulder crushing me. The other cat is 12 lbs and for some reason she likes my ribs... she's always trying to sit, stand, walk, or paw on my ribcage. YYOOW. I've sent her airborn a few times.
Back in a little bit...
My husband made the softest maztoball soup for me last night. It melted in my mouth. And I had a couple of creamy avocado smoothies during the day. Thank you for your concern. :)
Ida, sorry your heart is troubled today. Things may get a little bumpy in the process but like Kel said know that they will work out in the end. Once you get moved over and you're closer to your daughter it will have been worth the effort. Hang in there. I just hope your doc can address your knee pain in the mean time. That's one of the reasons my mom stayed in OH longer than she wanted, so she could get her double knee replacement surgery while she was still living at the assisted living care facility. Anyway, that's a little different situation. She's feeling waaay better now.
Kel, my pain is usually about a 5 or 6 too. That's a good day for me. lol. I remember when I was in the ER one time for back pain (I thought might be my kidneys after a string of kidney infections) and when I told them it was a 6 they started an IV, came in and got ready to administer pain meds. I was like, "Woah, hang on there. I don't need that stuff. Keep it away from me." They were the most confused looking team of nurses. Sorry half of the group only showed up but it sounds like it was still a good time. I hope your calf feels better soon.
Bobbii, I'm glad this is your last week of craziness. I'm sorry they bumped up your speaking event... and around the craziest time of the year? Let's hope they move it again. Enjoy the book signing.
Bbmom, aaahh dental! Noooooo! But it is important for you to go. >_< OK, go get your projects done, you're banned from the internet for now. LOL. Look! Another Squirrel!
Twin, I wish week days AND weekends weren't so stressful for you. PLus money worries too? When do you get a break? Feeling bad for you. Lucky your daughter has a mom who can relate to her struggles. We all understand a little in fact. Keeping you my prayers....
FallingL, for your leg pain, do soak in hot baths before bed? Or tried heating pads? I'm sorry you are in a lot of pain.
Sonya, heavy shopping already does a person in, let alone hauling it on their bike and on buses all the way back. I'm glad your kitty is snuggling you. Sometimes they really do understand the healing we need from their purry comfort.
I'm trying hard to wish the pain away today. Worked really hard this weekend and forgot to take plaquinil three times. Now I pay for it! As my back seems broken.
Hope your day at the beach is great!
Bbmom, I hope you get your stuff done and can concentrate. They are just cheap shoes that are worn out. The bottoms are completely coming off both shoes.
changing, I love CA! I've been there with trying hard to wish the pain away. I'm glad plaquinil works for you. I saw the chiro today for my broken back. ;-)
Anyway, I went to my wellness group, which was nice, but people kept interrupting, and the leader would then get off track. It makes for a longer meeting in which I'm then in more pain. Nothing like church chairs.
Then I had to stop in to the card making lady's place to pick up my order. I then headed home for lunch....then off to my orthopedic doctor. He was pretty surprised at how much pain I was in. He poked and prodded, and bent my leg this way and that way. I had xrays, and it was decided that I have bursitis. He said the bone on bone is not horrible yet, and he's not ready to think about a knee replacement at this point. So he gave me a cortisone shot which he said should help within about 2 days. I go back in 2 weeks if it's no better. Then he will stick a needle into the middle of my knee with another cortisone shot. If that doesn't work, then we will talk about surgery. Right now I've got an ice pack on my knee. That shot was quite painful. He also thinks that my fibro might be contributing to all of this, and so did his nurse. So he decided it's a mixture of bursitis and fibro. I really don't want to have surgery, so I hope he's right. He is such a nice doctor. I really like him.
I would love to respond to all of you, but I am just shot. You all are important to me, even if I don't greet each one separately. Thanks for all the good wishes for my doctor's appointment today, and for being uplifting concerning my depression stuff. I didn't get a chance to call my therapist today. I will try tomorrow.
Take care, all.
Twin, I'm sorry your husband was being a dirtbag again. Sometimes I wish I could give him fibro for a day so he gets the picture. I often feel like with my husband when he's being insensitive. Ugh!
Changing, sorry about your back pain today. I've visited CA a couple of times. Can be a fun place.
TwinMom - I'd like to smack your Hubby into next week. I am sorry that he is so indifferent to your suffering. Hugs!
Blue - I hope that the swelling goes away soon. You had a lot of trauma to the tissue while the surgeon was digging around in there. I hope that your evening is relaxing.
I'm resting and watching the news. Ran some errands today which took me all over town. I ma aged to get back to my hood just before shift change. Have done some genealogy tinkering too. Looking forward to a quiet evening with my partner. Hang in there folks!
