I think this is the last day I'm covering the check in, but correct me if I'm wrong here. And I'm going out with a bang because I had me an adventure Saturday. I was burning after realizing I accidentally took a second Adderall an hour after the first and I heard something that sounded like it was under the sink. I knew it was *not* a mouse. You know that feeling where you know what you're gonna see, but you also really hope you're wrong? Yeah. I wasn't wrong. My generation came up with the phrase "pics or it didn't happen", so here you go..

So basically I spent a solid 60 seconds going back and forth because I needed a towel to get him out, then to close the bedroom door before Miki figured out he's there, and other things I can't remember, because I was so damn wired I couldn't just slow down and THINK about how to do this. Luckily I work with small, aggressive animals all the time, and I'm not afraid of pretty much any animal other than insects/spiders crawling on me. I can't even imagine what a clusterfuck this would have been if I was anxious on top of everything. So I basically treated him like a fractious cat, put a bath towel over him and picked him up. He was not appreciative of my efforts, to say the least. And I got him almost to the front door before he got out of the towel enough that he could try to bite me. That method isn't meant to carry an animal, usually just get it off the floor and onto a table. Luckily he's not a cat and didn't bolt, so I got him in between the front doors with my foot (I had slippers on) and figured I had enough control over the situation to take a video of his escape. Got him out the front door safely and he went on his way, and I cleaned the hell out of that cabinet and stuffed a bunch of old towels into the space between the cabinet and dishwasher right next to it that I unfortunately can't completely block off.
So that's how my weekend started and now I need to get through the next 2.5 days. Coming up on a holiday it'll either be dead quiet or hell on wheels, with no in between. It's also about 17 degrees this morning and I'm so not ready for the cold. Or Christmas. Or anything.

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

Then we come home and it's all news about shootings *here*. Ummm.... btw, the US TSA stole rougly $100 from my emergency money stash in my shoes. And that's how it *started*...
Miki, fucking hell! I'd burn th ecabinet. I'm trying to think what would work in that space besides old towels, but honestly, short of welding in some metal, I can't think. I'm so sorry :-(
Hubby continues ill. I've got a horrible cold. We masked as much as possible, but... I thinkw ecaught this in the US and it just nailed us after we left. Hit too soon for it to be caught *there*.
That said, I hope to do some fun pix for y'all in check-in!
Glad to see you made it back in one piece. I hope hubby continues to improve
Leo, you are sure taking this situation well. I was scared for you guys. I wish so much that your vacation would have been different. I look forward to your pictures!
I had a fun day with H, J, and Hubby on Saturday. Although I didn’t do much, the rest of them made Christmas cookies, put up the Christmas tree, and decorated the whole house for Christmas. I did go through the Christmas totes, and picked stuff that hasn’t been used for years, to go to Good Will. That project was long overdue. I did sit with my butt cushion in the kitchen while they baked. I’m just useless for anything but watching anymore. Sometimes it’s hard to take. Especially on days like this.
Yesterday, I kept crying at everything. The dumbest stuff. But everything brought me to tears. I was glad when the day was done and I could just sleep. I woke up this morning, had some coffee, and felt normal again.
My pain is getting back to my regular pain without the added falling down the concrete steps pain. Not quite there yet. I’m still in a lot of pain in the morning.
I should get Christmas cards all done today. It looks like 65 this year. It used to be around 85, but I cut back a few years ago. I love getting Christmas cards. Makes getting the mail exciting for once.
We need to find a different person to let Brewer out while I’m laid up during surgery. I have no idea who to get. Our current person never listens to how I want her to handle Brewer, and I’ve just had it. This is making me anxious. I know she’s not going to understand as she’s a friend. But she does everything her way. It’s just goofy.
Take care everyone.
I start a week long cat sitting job tomorrow. Not looking forward to it with this cold. Also, I am on call for my Husky nephews if the sitter is working a weird shift. I have to go out later today and let them out. We have snow which they love so getting them back inside can be challenging.
No plans today unless tidying up and emptying the dishwasher counts. I am starting to feel like the Amazon Yeti. Planning on washing my hair today so maybe that will be the pick me up that I need. Not going to a fancy party tho lol.
My partner is not working on Thanksgiving which shocked me. They are actually closed. I was all set to be by myself. So, he has 4 days off this week. Not a great thing money wise but he can get the tractor set up for plowing and do some other things without being so rushed.
Leo - The TSA thing does not surprise me. My niece had one TSA agent that tried to steal her jewelry she had to remove while going through the metal detector. That was an epic moment. She stood there and made a huge scene until they "found" it. I hope that you can get the HVAC issue fixed in short order. It's brand new for God's sake... Both of you rest up today and let the outside world be just that - outside.
Merry - I am glad that you had J & H over to help with getting the house all gussied up for Christmas. You are not useless. You bring so much joy to other people and the kids have such a great time. It's not what you can physically do that counts all of the time. You are caring, thoughtful and very insightful. I gave up on Christmas cards years ago. I send a select few out to housebound relatives and that is about it. Not sure that I can even do that this year. What about using Rover? They have dog walkers who I am pretty darn sure are able to follow instructions. I know a couple of people who have worked for them here. It's a good service. Or, see if there might be a high school kid - maybe someone from your church who could use a bit of extra cash. I am glad that today seems calmer for you.
Off to get meds, breakfast, and finish my clean up tour of the house. Maybe some genealogy after I get my shower and hair did. I will check back later. Waves at all of you nice people!
Ok i have been writing this for over 4 hours now. ugh
Pain is very high today for me but abby seems to be doing ok, i do not know how it happened but i have zero appointments this week!!!!!! Matts work is also closing at 2 on thrusday so that helps with thanksgiving dinner! I only have to go anywhere weds with mom to her one dr appointment.
Glad you don’t have to spend thanksgiving alone.
Thanks for your kind words. I’m always concerned about what the grandkids think of me. Even my therapist and I are working on that.
Angela, sorry you are in such terrible pain once again. So tough. I’m glad Abby is doing well though. That’s always good to hear.
