Sooo yesterday was a rough day. Late Saturday night, the doctor who's quitting sent an email saying she's not coming back this week. I think I said here that I suspected she might change her mind again, and that's what happened. In the email she also called out 3 of us, saying basically that we don't care about what's going on with her. There's a story behind that: on Tuesday, out of the blue, she came up front and told us about something personal that she's going through (essentially something that's triggering PTSD)...I don't know why she brought it up, maybe to explain why she's leaving so suddenly? But we kinda didn't know what to say, it was an awkward situation. Personally I feel bad she's dealing with stuff, and I usually try to be empathetic, but I can't deal with my own anxiety about the situation and life in general, and I can't help but feel like we're still getting royally screwed over. I have no energy to support someone else right now. Maybe that makes me a callous bitch...I feel like the email portrayed us that way. And this email went to everyone who works in the NH office-doctors, techs etc. The previous emails have only gone to the practice owner and managers. So she meant for me to see what she said (the other 2 people involved were the managers), andit doesn't mention us by name but everyone knows who was working on Tuesday, and therefore who she's talking about. I'm feeling so guilty and depressed about this, and I have no idea if I should feel that way or not, but my head immediately goes to a fucked up place in these kind of situations. I do feel like publicly calling us out for our (lack of?) reaction was inappropriate and unnecessary, but of course I doubt myself there too. And I have no idea what exactly she expected or wanted us to say...that it explains everything and it's fine that she's leaving? It's still not. We're still having to figure out what the hell to do with her scheduled appointments, we're still having to turn people away and deal with their reactions (justified or not), and we're still worried that people are going to judge us for having 2 doctors quit in a year-even though neither was due to working conditions here. No matter how many times I go over this in my head, I still have no idea what to say.
And on top of all that, I completely broke down last night because I'm going through another hard time without Noah. I didn't realize how much I relied on him I guess. Don't get me wrong..I absolutely love all my animals equally and have never had favorites, but he was always there in these situations, and he was just a calm presence. He just wanted to cuddle up with me and purr. I'm sure if I was in a different mindset I could explain it better..I guess I'll just stop rambling and end this with an old photo of him being a goofball. He was the goodest boi

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

First of all, this whole vet leaving situation. . ..What a waste of a doctorate because she has no professionalism. Quitting is fine. Even I have quit without notice ( no one cared, long story) But as the Doctor she is held to a different level of behavior and decorum than her subordinates -- that's why she gets the big bucks. To follow with this emotional meltdown and then to follow with an email, seriously WTF. As I see it, she had a tantrum and didn't get the reaction she wanted so she sent this email. This all reflects badly on her. I can only assume she has a job lined up or is leaving the profession all together by her actions as she surely isn't conducting appropriately to get any professional reference.
As for the PTSD thing, it's an issue but not an excuse. Act like a grown up and handle your business. Dumping on subordinates isn't the way. Thoroughly screwing over your customers/clients is also not the way.
So this isn't on you Miki. Please try not to stress. This chic has done all kinds of wrong here.
I am not well. Still sick, have developed what sounds like a smokers cough but don't smoke. My impala failed inspection due to rust. We are getting a repair estimate but will probably have to junk it. And my Mom visited this weekend and seems to be having memory problems. My brother is playing it off like a big joke but I am super concerned. So I am quiet because I am a stressed anxious mess, which is not my usual mode of operation. OK gotta get ready, Clayton has to give blood today.
I've been out and back to see my clients cat. He is coming home later today in this mess. I can see a glaze starting to form on the trees. I had one errand to run as well. Not leaving the house any time soon.
I am going to have to get a new phone. Mine is acting up and I need it for work. Insert primal scream here. I have to send clients pictures and a text every visit. I am considering getting a refurbished Iphone to save some money. It will save me about $200. I don't know if that is worth it or not. It would come with a 12 month warranty. Any input?
Miki - The way I see it is this doctor is in a bad place. She was highly unprofessional to share her baggage. It's not like the staff are extremely close friends. And, sending out that email was just acting out because she didn't get whatever it was that she needed from people at work. The only person who did *anything* wrong was the doctor. She was out line and then some. This is not part of your pay grade by any means. Miki - you did nothing wrong at all. Let this go. Your manager knows better.
PuppyMom - I am really sorry that your car did not pass inspection. That sucks. You are right to be worried about your Mom. My brother thinks that any problems my Mom has are not his to deal with. Since COVID started, he has not seen her. He talks to her on the phone once in a great while and that's it. I'm sorry that you are so stressed. Sending support and a hug.
I have to get some stuff done around here. I hope that anyone who follows is having a decent day. Waves!
Miki, they are all the goodest. (I say this as Dahlia refuses to be removed from the hood of my sweatshirt.)
Puppy, oh shi*. I'm so sorry.
Fan, ugh.... family. Mine is half love and the otgher half I try to avoid, b/c when the going gets tough... they get going as far from helping out as possible.
HUGS
More tomorrow. Lt's just say I lost items of clothing. Hey. Polish wedding, people.
My brother helps my mom our multiple weekends a month. I think he's gotten use to her forgetfulness, if that makes sense.
Leo -- It's not a great wedding if some doesn't end up nekkid or at least missing some clothes :)!
