Good morning! Today I have mashed turnip for brains. Not even potatoes, which I like, darn it. Mashed turnip. Yech.
So the Crud Virus likes to settle in chests and be bronchitis and just when I thought Ihad it totally beat? Yep. I just want my sinuses clear. Please, oh please! I want oxygen!

So I was checking out anti-snoring stuff online.
First of all, the one thing looks like a pacifier. Another looks like they shoved two thimbles up your nose. (BTW, if my nose is stuffy, that won't help me not snore from post-nasal drip and stuffiness...) I was unsure to laugh or cry. The one pillow... is the one I use. Okay, well, that's that. I guess I have to hope that I get a bacterial secondary disease from the Crud Virus and then the docs will *do something*. I mean, I know viruses can't be killed, but OMG, isn't there ANYthing? When Grandma's onion soup fails to clear my airways, it's time for pharmaceuticals!
Of course, if the weather woud stop going from early summer to late fall to early summer ot late fall to early fall...

Happy election anniversary to Abraham Lincoln, elected to his first term this date in 1860. A year later, Jeff Davis was elected president of the Confederate States of America. BTW, I don't know why we call it The Civil War. It was, properly, The War of Secession and Unwilling Reunification. Nothing "civil" about that. Still remains the bloodiest war in US history. More men could be lost in a day than we lost on 9/11 and since, combined. Scary but true. In point of fact, US soldiers killed just fighting the armies of the Confederacy under just Confederate general Robert E Lee outnumber all those killed on and since 9/11 by Taliban and Al-Qaeda, et al. I di dthe math and doulbe-checked it. (I am nerd enough that I owned the Official Records of that war on CD-ROM before they went online.) Killed in battle, btw, I excluded deaths from disease. Tell me again why people think Robert E Lee was a great guy? Sorry, he was in charge of killing US soldiers. (Yes, I was raised in the North and my ancestors died in the Civil War and so forth. For the Union. Also had an abolitionist judge in the family tree. We're a military family. We don't take kindly to people who kill US military. The fact they were once US military makes it worse, in our family.)
On a lighter note, William C. Hooker in 1894 received a patent for the mousetrap. Of coure, some of us just use cats and dogs... But this is the iconic American mousetrap. The bait. The spring. THe snapping metal bar. There's a similar one in UK patent history, but the spring mechanism was of slightly different design, and some were of all-metal, rather than a wooden rectangle with a triggering point that caused the spring to release the metal bar pulled back under pressure, and *crunch*.
For some reason, btw, it's a current fad to dare peopl eot not yell if they get snapped by a mousetrap. Or by a shock-collar like dogs are forced to wear. Humans. We're too weird.
In 1923, Jacob Schick got his patent for the electric shaver/razor. Yep. Shick. Still around. Still. No idea anyone else's take on the electric razor of the modern era, but Hubby got one, used it twice, and said, "Screw it, the razor blade works better, this just feels like bad tweezers." Okay, then. Scratch that off the Christmas gift list for him for the rest of eternity!

Going to try to take a walk. I have a month to get over this virus (the month-long Crud) and be ready to walk (limp) a 5K... When all I want to do is keep sleeping off this darn bug. Oh well. More aromatic herbs, more ... uh.... yeah, even Grandma's magic recipes have failed. So much for that flu shot I got, right? *headdesk*
Merry Monday to all!

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...
Oh goodness Leo, I too understand that doc can't give you something for a virus. But they do have things to help your "symptoms". So what about OTC/behind the counter sudifed or something? Would that help?
And if it is bronchitis, then you will get something. LOL, more than just something. Often it's an inhaler, antibiotics, and something for the cough. I get so bad from coughing fits, that I nearly pass out from them. Good times. But you're right, if you go in too soon, the docs won't treat you. If you wait like me, then they grill you for not coming in sooner. I never know where the doctor barometer lies.
Not much going on in my little world today here. Got a guy coming out to do the lawn. He may or may not be able to as the construction continues on our street. We may or may not have a driveway. We've just been so busy readying the house, doing that last final deep cleaning, with final packing that there just isn't enough hours in the day it seems to get it all done.
Leo, I hope you can enjoy a good cuddle on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate. That has been my little love affair lately. Minty Hot Chocolate w/ marshmallows. Watching Live PD curled up with a blanket.
Off to get my list done for the day. Hope everyone has a good day today.
Leo, so awful that you are still sick. It does sound like you need to see the doc. Thanks for the history stuff. Always interesting.
Wonder. I don't envy your cleaning and packing. But it's all for a good reason, which is great. Hope you have a good day today.
My pain is not as bad today as Saturday and Sunday. But I am going to the acupuncturist this morning anyway. It sure was a rough couple of days.
My hp laptop died yesterday. My husband has an old mac that I will have to learn how to use. So it's the phone for now.
Later.
Funny thing you mentioned mashed turnips. Gin likes to add some to our potatoes and mash them together..we just had some over the weekend. I hope you clear up some today!
Wonder,
Guy to do the lawn? Is he shoveling or blowing? :-)
Ida,
Glad to hear that you are not as sore today! I am going to be rooting for the Pack to win tonight..keep your fingers crossed.
Sending out (((hugs))) for everyone today.
Take care,
Kel
Wonder-sounds like you have a busy day ahead of e, hope all goes well and you can relax with your hot chocolate. Which sounds really good...in college we used to mix peppermint schnapps with hot chocolate in the winter, it was so good.
So yesterday was a weird day...the meeting with my parents went ok, they thought he was very nice. My main concern is the tone my mom used when she asked about him, she sounded like she already didn't like him because I didn't tell her about him right away. Before going over there we walked my dog in the trails, and we walked by this guy who saw what I was doing with my dog (distracting her with treats while walking by other dogs), intentionally let his dog get about 2 ft away from her, then berated me for "giving her a treat for being aggressive ". She barked at his dog, so I had a treat in front of her face, but I didn't reward her until she sat and looked at me. I tried defending myself a little bit but this guy was like yelling over me about how I don't know what I'm doing, I'm wrong about everything and he could fix this problem in 5 minutes. Mind you, he let his dog, whose leash was literally a piece of rope tied to its collar, get that close to a dog he thought was aggressive. We ended up just walking away, but the guy stood there yelling after us for several minutes. It really freaked me out and I was almost in tears. I honestly thought he was going to follow us. Once we got far enough away my bf made me stop and he calmed me down a bit...then we saw him again as we were leaving, and there was no way to get out of the park without walking by him again, so the whole situation repeated itself. I'm so glad I wasn't walking her alone... I am a little nervous about seeing him there again now though. And today my period finally started, but I feel like absolute shit now.
Leo, oh boy I️ understand how you feel. I️ feel yuck in my chest and I’m hoping it doesn’t get worst. I️ usually get bronchitis. (Ok, I️ don’t know what’s going on with this keyboard! All of the capital I’s are messed up sometimes.)
Wonder, packing is hard! Take time for your hot chocolate cuddle.
Ida, ugh, computer trouble. I️ put off updating mine and it did it on its own and now it makes me crazy.
Kel, surviving the snow? It’s just rain, rain, rain here and will be for the next week, again.
Miki, that encounter was awful! He should mind his own business.
Chores are calling. I️ must unearth my sewing machine and get some work done.
Miki my dog is very shy and skiddish and 13 lbs and if anyone comes near us she doesnt know she barks and hides behind me so people think its a good idea to let their kids run up to the *cute puppy* and they themselves do too umm no i pick her up and keep her safe and tell people that if they want to pet her then they have to be very calm and let her smell your hand first *she has never ever bitten* and shes fine then as long as im holding her.
I do NOT want to go to DBT group for 2 hours today but i have no choice and have to leave soon. Lately am in so much pain during the night and when i get up, yesterday was in bed most the day from pain. My back is being the biggest issue right now.
Not much happened around here yesterday. My partner was supposed to go up in the attic and hang 100 ft of string lights. We have lights in the storage area but not anywhere else. The attic is big. We need to be able to see what damage the raccoons caused while they were up there for part of last winter. The entry points are all sealed and they have not been able to get back in since then. After procrastinating all afternoon, he decided not to do it yesterday. Hopefully, he will get it done today or tomorrow. He has everything that he needs to do it all over the laundry room. I don't like having the attic open as it sucks all of the heat out of the house and the cats have to be corralled. Or, at least one of them will try to climb the stairs to take a tour :).
Not much on the agenda today. Some laundry and maybe a quick trip to the grocery store. My left foot is acting up. The worst of the hammer toes was on that foot. It has been very sore and especially bad yesterday. I'm thinking that maybe I caught it on something while sleeping. I dunno. Just wish it would stop.
Wonder- It sounds like you are doing an amazing job packing up the house. Once I can be on my feet more, I want to continue sorting and cleaning around here. Done overdo it today!
Ida - Sorry that your laptop died! I'm glad that you are feeling better today. Going to the acupuncturist is a good idea. I hope that it is helpful.
Miki - I'm glad that the BF meeting the parents is over and done. You seem happy and comfortable with him. That's what really matters. He seems to be able to handle himself just fine. I'm sorry about that nutjob on the walking trail. I'd call the police if you see him again. It was not just about the dog. His behavior was threatening towards you too. I'm glad that the BF was there to help. I hope that your day at work is not too crazy.
Hi Kel - Turnips are not something that I like - at all. My Mom will very occasionally whip up turnip and rutabaga surprise as we like to call it. No one eats it except her. The Scots used turnips as the original jack-o-lantern. I hope that you have a decent day!
Hi Bobbii - I hope that you don't get bronchitis! I hope that whatever you are doing with your sewing machine is relaxing. Take care and have a decent day.
Time to get going and get my chores started. Group hug!
Wonder, I often walk that fine line of waiting too long. I know when I am coughing up colored stuff it isn’t good, but it hasn’t been happening for a week, so I don’t want to waste time going to the doctors already. I hope you don’t overdo it trying to get everything packed up. How is the house hunt going?
I am glad you are feeling a bit better Ida. I hope the acupuncturist gets you feeling even better. I am sorry about your laptop. I tried to use my daughters Mac and OMG, I was lost. Good luck.
Hey Kel! How are you doing up in the frozen tundra? Did you get more snow this weekend? I just don’t know how you cope with it. We are having 70’s – 30’s everyday and that swing is about killing me. Add the rain and wind and well, I am done. When can I move south?
Sorry you are feeling so yucky Miki. That guy was totally wrong. I hate people who do that. Mya loves to jump at everyone/thing. I let her out on a retractable leash, but as soon as I see anyone, I real her back in. I need to figure out how to do this bell training for going outside. She is so little and we only take her out the back door that is in our laundry room that sometimes we don’t see her standing there and she goes on the floor. However, I am not sure the other 2 in my house will be helpful with that. So…I hope your week gets better.
Bobbii, don’t sew too much. I am sure sitting there makes your costo worse. Take care of yourself.
I hope your counseling goes ok, Angela and that you get home to a warm bed/recliner asap!
I am feeling worn out. I worked a lot at my 2nd job this past week. It is okay work and I have not had to work with the kid that didn’t care for again, so far. But, I know it is only a matter of time. All of the employees keep telling me I am doing great, but boy it doesn’t feel it. By the time the shift is done, so am I. I work again tonight, then not on until next Monday, so that will be helpful with my aching legs and feet. I have the crud creeping into my chest too.
Tomorrow I have an all morning meeting, so I am not sure if I will find time to check in. Everyone stay safe and warm.
Ida, yah, it's all exciting. And I'm pacing myself to avoid getting overwhelmed by it all (with my anxiety stuff). So lots of cuddle time with the grranimals while I take my breaks.
Miki, glad the meeting with your parents went okay. My mom had a "chip" on her shoulder also because I didn't tell her about dating my now hubby. She carried that until the day we got married. Now, she'll gladly tip me over to hand him a treat. LOL. And Wow...some animal owners are so aggressive. Doesn't it make you just sit and wonder what in the world happened to them that made them that way? Maybe you can reminisce about the days of old and crack open a bottle of Dr McGillicuddy's Peppermint Schappes and hot chocolate later. Oh man, does that bring back some memories.
Bobbii....funny how those chores just beacon you with their whining? Sewing...is this a fun project? I'm really wanting to make a hand crocheted blanket with chunky yarn.
Angela, what is it with backs lately? Mine has been pitching fits also. Hmm. Your little pup sounds a lot like our ruby (but she's a Ragdoll cat, who thinks she's a dog)...so we treat her like one. Anyways, everyone wants to touch her because her fur is just so dang addicting and soft, but she growls at people vs hissing. She's strange. I hope your group goes well today.
And your cat issue with the attic reminded me of this Simon'sCat video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruTB5jBGXsE
Take it easy today if you can. I know it's hard being down.
BBMom, househunting? Well we know what we want. But since we know we need to wait until January to get our tax documents for the mortgage guys, we're putting the tours on hold. I have this next two weeks to box up the non essential stuff and then it will be Thanksgiving time. After that, I plan on just focusing on my Christmas stuff/baking. Then when January hits we're going down to the minimal things necessary and house hunting on the weekends. We have a couple of houses we like, and if they are there still, they might be what we'll bid on. Until then, we're just taking this at a turtle's pace. I know that as soon as January hits, it's going to go fast. I'm just so thankful God provided us with this time as my body would have been in rough shape otherwise.
I'm glad to hear your part time job is going well. And that they keep that turd kid away from working your same schedule. Be kind to yourself tonight.
Wonder, I hope the guy can do your lawn today despite the construction crew out front. Some mint hot chocolate sounds good, or even caramel hot chocolate would be nice. Enjoy your day and curl up with some hot chocolate.
ida, I'm glad you are feeling a little better. I think you made a good trade today for the acupuncturist, it sounds like you need some help with that pain. Good luck
kel, sending you hugs and I hope you have a good day and enjoy the game tonight.
miki, I have no patience for ignorant rude people. I probably would have said some not so very nice things after being attacked like that from him, and then told God I was sorry. I really hope you never see him again. I hope you have a good day at work and get lots of rest later.
Bobbi, I sure hope you don't get bronchitis this winter. If I remember correctly you were sick a lot last winter. I hope you have a good day with your sewing maching. ;-)
Angela, I hope therapy is good today and that you start feeling better. My pain has been sky high too. Gentle hugs
bbmom, I don't know how you are working a 2nd job. I'm so glad you get a break after tonight, you really need it. Oh and I love Target, so it would hard for me to work and not want to shop.
Fantod, I'm glad the attic is safe and your partner is making sure things are ready for the cold weather to prevent those critters from coming in. I also get sinusitis often so I stay on a nasal spray called Azelastine. You might mention it to her if she gets it a lot.
My asthma test is good so I'm just waiting on the GI test now. My stomach is still nonstop bothering me and I just don't know what to do or try. My mom is having an ultrasound next Monday to see if the spot from the mammogram needs a biopsy, I think Bobbi mentioned an ultrasound yesterday and she was right.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hershey's over here attacking a piece of clothing that fell on the floor. lol
Leo, I'm sorry you haven't found a good snoring solution. Have you tried propping yourself up with a few pillows? I like someone's suggestion with some OTC decongestants and a doc visit. A month is a long time. But I guess the virus this season is a stubborn one.... mom and hubby were sick for almost 3 weeks.
It's been raining every night and sometimes sprinkles during the day. I had a God-awful stomach ache yesterday from IBS-C. I'm going through another one of these terrible flares where none of the normal stuff seems to help. I sent my husband down the street to a deli who makes fresh veggie juice concoctions, because I stopped and got one there the other day that helped. That was in the morning and after nothing happened all day, I decided to take a laxative before bed. Well, at 2:30 AM let's just say both of them went into effect and my gut felt like it was hit by a sledge hammer.
I can't live like this.... I see the GI clinic Wed and I hope they're willing to try something again. I have acupuncture today.
Wonder, that makes sense putting the house hunting on hold until you are closer to actually moving. I think the anticipation would kill me. Once the decision to sell is done, I am done! I am glad you are able to take it slow though.
Bobbii, I hope you don't get bronchitis too. You have a horrible time with that each year.
Twin, I am glad your breathing test came back good, but wonder if it is something GI related that is leaving you short of breath. Something is causing it. I just don't know. I hope you have a good day and I am praying for your Mom. I hope it isn't anything to worry about.
Blue, sorry you are feeling so poorly. I went through a long bout of IBS C and know first hand the pain it can cause. I think at one point it was nearly a month before I had a BM. A few tests later and laproscopic surgery, they discovered my colon was in a knot. Not that yours is, but I remember the horrible pain, the feeling that I looked prego/bloated and did I say the back pain too?? Take care of yourself.
Leo - get to the doctor, stat!!
Off to mix some mocha choca lattes! Or something like that. I love them but they are so darn expensive. Twin, since I am in the Starbucks at Target, I don't see what is for sale, which is a good thing since I do treat myself to a $4 drink each night I am there.
Sunny day here and 45 degrees. I am glad it is not raining , we have had a lot of that the last week.
My brother left to go back to his home in Ohio an hour ago. My son went to work a half hour ago. I have the house to myself until 8:30 pm. I have decided to be a slug and rest for a few hours or so. Focus on my needs.
So Saturday my brother took me to the pet store to return unopened dog food and biscuits. He had major road rage 3 separate times - screaming , yelling, major cursing to other drivers for the stupidest things. He did this last December. I cant stand being around that kind of behavior. My ex had anger issues and it just freaks me out. I calmly said to my brother after the 3rd time that he has road rage and anger issues . He said well today I do. TODAY REALLY. He seriously needs anger management help. Yesterday he plugged up the toilet and had to use a snake and it wasnt going well , so fits of yelling and anger. UGH.
This getting dark earlier is a bummer. Takes a while to get use to it. My left elbow tendon has been horrible the last few days. I have been icing and elevating it a lot and have been trying to use it less which is hard because I am left handed and it also then gets my right elbow tendon angry from using it more. It will be 2 years soon since my elbow tendons crapped out. The ankle tendon is going on 5 months. UGH
Hoping for low pain levels and good sleep for everyone.
I hope everyone has a better day tomorrow.
