this medication relaxes me to the point where it makes the pain tollerable...it doesn't relieve the pain completely. But when you have chronic pain you come to the realization that you will never fully be comfortable so anything that just dulls the pain a little is good.

I HEAR SO MANY STORIES ABOUT PEOPLE NOT GETTING ANY PAIN MEDS AND HAVING FIBRO AND THAT SCARES ME B/C THAT IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN ON SINCE DAY ONE. YO MUST FIND A DR WHO BELIEVES IN FIBRO AND WILL HELP YOU, BE SURE THAT YOU FIND OUT IF THEY BELIEVE OR NOT, IT WON'T DO YOU MUCH GOOD TO SEE A DR WHO DOESN'T BELIEVE IN IT AS THEY MIGHT NOT GIVE YOU PAIN MEDS EITHER. I have done the Loritab and the Oxycodone and now I am on Diloded which you can't get much stronger. I have found that if I take 1 diloded,1 valium,half a sulma and then 800 mg IBP I am pretty good for most of the day!! DH has to pick up Valuim in the morning since I am out and I am worried about the pain kicking my ass.

I take Lortab 5/500, 3 times a day. It really helps my pain levels. I also started Neurontin 2 weeks ago for nerve pain and it was my lifesaver. I don't have any ill side effects from the lortab.

I take 30mg codien and 300 tylena. (my liver is bad) I get Lyrica now too. Cymbalta 80 mg 2X day/ so I still have 'moments' but I seem to make it through. I can only take the codien for break through pain.

I work with lortab or have recently. Only thing that helps my pleurisy problems pain wise.

I recommend it; just keep in contact with your doc.

The dr. presribed it after gallbladder surgery. After taking 2 I quit. I made me so hyper and I couldn't sleep. It really didn't help with the pain enough to tell I'd taken anything so I managed to get through recovery of the surgery without anything else for pain.

I have taken lortabs in the past. It did take the edge off the pain, but not get rid of it. It also really caused bad constiaption in me. They are very addictive so please be careful using them.

THERE IS A 12 AND 24 HOUR PILLS OF WHICH, HYDROCODONE OR LORTAB? ONE OR TWO A DAY WOULD BE EASIER. I WOULD LOVE TO GO OFF MY PAIN MEDICATION BUT EVERY TIME I DO I CRY SO HARD BECAUSE THE PAIN IS SO BAD! WHY CAN'T THERE BE SOMETHING NON ADDICTING?

Well, since this post has opened back up, I just want to add my 2 cents. I have never had a rhuemy that would prescribe anything stronger than Ultram. Unfortunately, I am allergic to it.

I also have several relatives who have fibro and their rhuemy's used to prescribe lortab, but they are cutting their pain meds way, way down.

I have IC, which for me is more painful than fibro, and my Urologist is stingy with the Lortab. I even had one Uro who absolutely refused to prescribe lortab for my pain. Seems that many doctors that manage chronic pain are trying to get away from narcotics.

Actually the recent guidelines for pain doctors are hopefully to move them more toward narcotics than away from them. Those who are trying to get away from them are not doing it for reasons having to do with their patients - it's all about their fear of the DEA busting down their door and raiding their office.

There are a few docs out there who should be raided and shut down, because they are knowingly supplying addicts and drug dealers but among most pain specialists, the consensus is that pain is being undertreated and narcotics are being underused, when they are often the most effective and least toxic med for long-term use.

I know in the area I live in no Rhuemy will give lortab or anything stronger that Ultram ER. :-(

The doctors in your area have no balls :) I find that a lot - it's one of the reasons I've been so driven to get into awareness work along with my support group.
