I'm sorry to hear about your knee pain. Most of my leg pain is in my hips but I do have some knee pain that comes and goes. So far I have been living through it with ibuprofen and heat/cold. I have also had a cortisone shot in one of my hips. It all seems to help some.
Knee pain is weird. I have it in one knee from a teenage injury, but the other is from my gait being off due to a bad hip. Knees are between our feet and backs (yes, I know, obvious, duh, LOL!), but that means if we have back problems, or issues with our gait when we walk, our knees are often where it shows up---sometimes on its way to our back! My hubby is a classic case. He twisted an ankle and limped. That knee got stressed. Soon his back ached. So he altered how he was walking and so on because of his back pain (slouching, over-straightening) and then his *other* knee started twinging. By then his ankle was fine.... Yeah. Bodies are *not* all that well-designed sometimes!
I use heat, cold, and I do exercises designed for the muscles around the knee, to help stabilize them. A lot of those are available on YouTube----check for exercises to help "Runners knee" (or walkers knee), and so on. And if you have a gym membership and there's a warm water therapy pool? Awesome for knees and hips:-)
Generally, joint pain is one of the -it is guys (arthritis, burstitis), and FM is generalized throughout all muscle groups, but since we with FM often can't move well, we have a hard time staying toned enough to protect the joints.
:-)
That has helped most of my pain, but did nothing for my knees. I also have degenerative disc disease. But I have had that since 2007. My knee have not bothered me until 2014.
I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees which is very painful. If you have inflammation in your knees, something else other than Fibromyalgia (FMS) is going on in that specific area. Have you seen an orthopedic specialist?
I take Mobic which is an anti inflammatory for my knees. It helps. I'd consider seeing an orthopedic specialist and have your knees looked at again. A lot of people with Fibromyalgia have multiple underlying conditions. Take care.
