Also, at the top of your fibro page here, there are "recommendations" that have some great sites, books,videos, etc., that are very helpful. As well, as Micki5555's site that I think was listed previously, and she posts here, as well. All sorts of good information out there. Hope you find some that are helpful to you, as well as all the wonderful people on here that have helped me, they're really great!

I have had fibro for 25 years and the best place I have found to date is WebMD and here at DS. I think geting info from books and other pleaces is great but getting it from people personally that have been through it or are going through it helps me more than anything.

They can feel what your going through because we all have gone through it at least once so if you have any questions please ask aawy and if you wanted to talk personally just PM me and we can talk, you can vent, scream what ever you need I'm here as much as you need me to be.

The people here are wonderful and can help with anything you need.

Welcome! Just wanted to offer encouragement to you. I know I was so scared when I was first DX. 4 years ago, this illness has affected my life but I've learned you CAN live a full and fullfilling relatively normal life with fibro. It is possible. IT's work. I enjoy the beauty in life more now.

I've had it for a 15 years now and it is scary at first if you don't know that much about it. It is nothing that is life threatning you just have to really take care of yourself ie eating,excercise,rest,etc there are alot of different symtoms that go with it I have found that everyone has a different symptom than just the fatigue and pain. I would try holtorfmed.com they have symtoms with illness and what they can do to fix the imbalance in your system. If you have anymore questions I would be glad to help I'm actually seeing one of the physicians there for about 6months now and I think the hormone replacement therapy is helping I think it just might take a while to start getting my system back on track since I've had it for so long. Anyway try not to worry too much, we're all here for support, so don't hesitate to ask questions. Hugs2u!!!!!!

Welcome Hon! I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis....just know that you are certainly not alone! There's a whole world full of us (fibros) out here! You've come to a wonderful place....DS is my inspiration, esp. when you have those dull moments and days when life no longer seems worth living b/c of all the PAIN, fibrofog, etc... Just turn to DS, and everything will start looking up!! ;)

It is referring to Low-Dose Naltrexone, aka "LDN". I've heard nothing but good raves about it, and it's helping all types of Auto'Immune & Central Nerve Diseases, including Fibro. I forgot to ask my new neuro about it this past weeik, b/c he was covering so much new ground; however, I'm going to ask my pain specialists about it next appt. I'll keep everyone informed, especially it I try it (which I plan on doing...Dr.'s willing).

PLEASE be very careful if you are on any narcotic or opiod for pain control before considering LDN therapy. It will send you into withdrawal if you don't stop these meds and make sure they are out of your system first!!! Hugs, Fern

I second the First Year Fibro book. I have been diagnosed for a little over a month now and this book has explained everything I have gone through over the past 10 years. You don't have to stop dreaming with FM...just know that it will be worth that much more when you work hard to achieve it!
