Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
Hello,My first post and introduction I guess. I have Cauda equina syndrome and had emergency surgery for that in 2015, thank God I am still able to walk. Also have fibro and, well, lots of other chronic back issues.
I'm a single mom and work full time. Working pretty much sucks up at least 90% of my life source, what's left has to stretch out for interacting and caring for my home and family.
I feel very isolated, very blessed to be able to work from home, its very hard to get out of the house. I tried a counselor, said she specialized in chronic pain but knew nothing about fibro...looking for a new one.
I just need to connect, to see understanding and compassion.

So there's a Bigfoot festival going on soon and Hubby is soooo enthused.I've spent so much of my life outdoors. I'm 99% sure their whoops and thumps and such are probably people up to no good tryihng to scare other folisk outta the woods without getting in trouble. Why do I say that? There's moonshiners in my DNA. And people who've lived in the forests since before white folks. If something was out...

First of all, welcome:-) We're a fairly active group, and chat daily on the check-ins. Sometimes we post a lot, sometimes less, as we can and need. So there's always someone around, as a rule. (Exceptions prove it, today, obviously. *facepalm*)
Second, if you haven't bought or read "Fibromyalgia for Dummies", we recommend it as a good book to start with, and to give to family and friends who think we're... well, not really hurting like this. Studies are constantly ongoing, and being debunked or confirmed or left in the "hmm" zone, so basically, this is a trial-and-error situation in terms of treatment and so on.
Generally what works for one, in other words, maybe works for a third of us (in my 7 years on the board here on DS, anyway). And other dx have to be ruled out. I've seen everything from celiac to sarcoidosis be called "fibro", so ruling out *anything* else is vital, to get best treatment ASAP. And fibro doesn't come alone, as you know!
I was doing pretty well for about 8 years, without emds even, just got the luck of the fibro remission lottery... Happens sometimes for some of us. Then... Well, stress is my biggest trigger. In 2011, I fell, seriously badly, and wound up with lifelong scarring in my pelvis and nerve damage in my lower spine and hip. (My right leg occasionally "disappears" entirely. Much fun when walking.) I say that to let you know... we talk about more than fibro. I m ean, life is hard, and pain just... Yeah. Not so simple to just "do it" sometimes. Even if it's not directly fibro-related. So feel free to vent and so on.
Again, apologies for not answering sooner. I have been scattered this last week or so.
Cheers,
Leo
(PS: Despite name, am female. We do have men aboard, but we gals are more chatty, apparently.)
I meant to just thank you all.
