intense dizziness

Yesterday, when I woke from a nap, I suffered with terrible dizziness for almost 4 hours. Even needed help to get to the bathroom as whenever I opened my eyes, the room would spin so badly, it made me very nauseous. I never felt anything like it (and I was an active alcoholic for twenty years).

So, my obvious question is: Is this somehow Fibro related? Anyone else here suffer from bad and long-lasting dizzy spells?

I hate to hear about dizziness. I've gone through days like that for years. But, I have MS, Graves, Gastritis Fibro etc. And some of my meds (which I limit) cause dizziness. I can take a Neurontin at 8 p.m. and wake up dizzy in the morning and stay that way half the day.

Did you take any meds last night? I've heard that Fibro can and does make us dizzy and there is very little that can be done for it.

Yes, there is a good possibility but that shouldn't stop the doctor from just pushing it off onto Fibro. You should see a Specialist for this. Some things that can cause it is due to low blood pressure, dehydration, the crystals in your ears getting out of balance or the common Vertigo which is terrible. I get it sometimes so bad that I faint. Still don't know why. I hope you will see a Specialist about his. Hugs GB

An inner ear infection can cause you to pass out. Not that is what you have, but could be a csuse.

If you have had a cold recently you could have a condition labyrinthitis, I think it's called, though it would last longer than 4 hours.

I have had dizziness due to, I think, a huge amount of pain signals bombarding my brain.

If it returns, or if it could be caused by meds, see a doc about it, is my advice. Good luck.

You should see an ENT about this issue. Mnire's disease can be associated with Fibromyalgia. Have your ears checked to see if that is the source of the problem. Take care.

I have bouts of dizziness and vertigo. What you described is vertigo, where the room seems to be spinning. I went through a round of tests from an ENT, and he diagnosed me with Mnire's disease, which I've read can accompany fibro. I'm so sorry you had this episode.....it's no fun. Taking Dramamine helps me.

My husband's and his friend's vertigo were cured by an ear and nose physician. They know how to care for it.......when I had it, one day from getting up too quickly, it took days of waiting for it to go away. Wishing you luck with this, it really sucks.
