I developed fibro from a young age I believe, not due to anything else. I was on medications first two years of my life for ear infections but until age 9, didn't take any more.
While I know that all drugs have side effects, I think saying we were "poisoned" might be a tad dramatic. I would have been dead at 35 if not for antibiotics.
I have looked for the answer to the big question why? as well. but I do not have a solution. The accident maybe, the side effect of the pain from the accident. God wants me to have this to fight for the rights of others. I don't know.
I am passed the why and wondering how can I get better? I am told I won't so I am now trying to transition to this is who I am! This is the hardest stage for me, acceptance.
It didn't bring it on for me. What brought on the worst of it was the loss of a child in stillbirth, plus my father and brother had serious illnesses at the same time. My brother almost died in a car accident and I couldn't even go to see him. It was horrible. The first really bad symptom I had was the loss of my ability to remember things. It was so serious, it made me unable to do my job, although it took a few years for me to even understand it. I had always had such a good memory and was able to not only learn processes easily, I was often the person in my company to create them. Not after I lost my daughter. My brain felt really fuzzy, is the only way I can describe it. Not quite so bad today, since I barely do anything at all anymore and have as little stress as is possible in the life of a person who is, yes, still living.
Do you know about the central nervous system aspect of our illness? There is a part of the brain called the hypothalamus. That is where the condition is seated in the brain. I also have bipolar type 2, which is also a malfunction of the hypothalamus. My naughty, naughty brain. Maybe I can get a transplant sometime. ;-)
I have never been on Cipro either, so your theory does not work in my example
I have lots of left over pain in my body now from this issue but now the doctors say the pain is cause i am old and arthrits...oh well
But a couple of weeks ago I learned from my mother that when I was an infant I had repeated febrile seizures. Every time my temperature went over 101 I had a seizure. If you are a parent, you know babies run fevers all the time. So now I have to wonder... seizures at that young age when the brain is forming ... could that have caused the FM?
No one ever determined a cause for the seizures, and they went away before I was 2. Back then the diagnosis often was "it sometimes happens".
