How did we all suddenly get sick? And why can't we be cured? I suspect I was poisoned by cipro. Seems after 2 days on the stuff, all of a sudden I had incredible joint pain. Then diagnosed with parvo and autoimmune. Hmmmm.....rheumatologist claims all my peripheral nerve pain is not from the autoimmune disease. OK, but thats the same time it started. Coincidence?
Think about when you first got sick with fibro. Were you recently on a prescription medicine and then suddenly started getting all this strange pain and symptoms? Are there warnings of peripheral nerve damage, insomnia, depression, muscle damage? Cipro has a few of these warnings, but guess what, the warnings are in tiny letters.
I am not one of these conspiracy theory freaks, but this really strikes me as too much to be a coincidence.

Parvo can cause a whole cascade of events ....less than 3% of people have a severe reaction but maybe you were one them just like me.
My fibro seems to be hereditary but there are other factors...my spine and numerous other bones are out of whack, chronic fatigue like illness when I was 19, minor car accident, depoprivera shot when I was 18 to 19, surgery at 21 for gall bladder removal and major attacks beforehand, stress, etc. so, I wouldn't count out cipro!

I wouldn't recommend banning Cipro. I have taken it more than once and while I do not thrill to some of its side effects, it is a very effective for a wide variety of dangerous infections. I do think it is overprescribed, but that is because doctors are so afraid of giving anybody a drug that the germs are already resistant to. Most of the older antibiotics fall into that category. Because they too were overprescribed. And around and around we go.
Basically, if you suspect that Cipro has given you bad side effects, tell your doctor to mark your records so that you are noted to be sensitive to Cipro. It may not be a true allergy, but even sensitivity can cause way too many problems. I have to do this with ibuprofen type drugs, they tear my G.I. system apart no matter what precautions are taken. Fun with biochemistry!
