I'm pleased as punch to see a bunch of possible causes posted earlier. I personally think "hypermobile syndrome" (probably Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome or another connective tissue disorder) would prove to be one of the most common causes in this group. Dr. Oz said a week or two ago that celiac disease is another thing to test for re fibromyalgia.
I have a history of fever blisters on my lip or in mouth when I get them. I also have a lot of problems with my eyes. Ocular surface disease, Clogged Mynobian glands and blephritis. Oh did I mention headaches? I think today was one of the top 10 worst days of my life, I just wanted to end it all. When I have days like this, I have Morphine Sulfate in a bottle so I took a half and finally some peace. I few days ago I went to the foot doctor because my foot started hurting about 4 months ago "really bad" but I didn't do anything about it because I thought It was just another, bad pain. I have walked on the side of my foot and my heal for a long time now. When I went into see the doctor he did an x-ray, he said my foot was broken!!!! Now, I am in a cast and if in 5 to 6 weeks it isn't better I will have to have a bone removed. I have learned after 30 something years to, SUCK IT UP AND I AM SO TIRED!!! This cast I'm warring throws my back off so much that looking back at my day I was thinking awful things. I guess it is just another day in my lovely life. God is good, PAIN isn't (I don't think that belongs in the same sentence) Take Care, hugs to you too!
Asthma, hashimoto's, IBS & GERD, insomnia/hypersomnia, arthritis, premature menopause, migraines, and Epstein-Barr.
Now, what do I have:
TMJD, bipolar II, IBS, interstitial cystitis, DDD, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, hypothyroid, migraines, early menopause (not for the faint-hearted), arthritis, dry eyes, mouth, etc., bone spurs in my feet, asthma, terrible shortness of breath, that probably goes with the newly diagnosed, diabetes, fibrofog, allergies, insomnia, rosacea, PTSD and anxiety, and I'm sure I'm forgetting things. Too much to remember.
Depression and anxiety (used to have panic attacks, agoraphobia, now I'm just terrified someone will accidentally hurt me by touching me), insomnia/narcolepsy, sleep apnea, endometriosis, plantar fasciitis, thoracic outlet syndrome, nerve pain from several whiplashes, severe costochondritis, post nasal drip, constant runny nose (constant pile of tissues by the PC lol), arthritis, mild scoliosis + overweight due to inactivity, pain and medication (thanks so much!).
Instead of calling it plantar fascitis, I just say my foot hurts. It's Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) to the orthopedic specialist, but to me it's fibro. I'm not hypoglycemic - fibro just means I need to eat healthier or I feel bad. Etc, etc, etc.
To me, fibro affects every tissue in my body. So it doesn't matter if i give each set of symptoms a different name... it's all the same thing.
