After a very long haul, I was approved for disability. Yesterday I read the report. It was a very long list including fibro, probable inflammatory disease, depression (which irks me because this comes from the imagination of my doctors) obesity ( I gained 25 lbs after taking gabapentin, and haven't lost it), and my age just 63. So I'm now figuring out Medicare. I've been on Medicaid for two years, so I will be trying to find doctors who can get to know me instead of being on a Mary-go-round of doctors.
Oh, and the last thing was cognative problems. And I can't argue with that one.

At first I was hugely relieved, but then I had to immediately figure out Medicare. Medicaid isn't really great as far as your health care goes, but it is easy. I'm hoping for better health care, though, once I'm on Medicare. I just got the Part D done with the help of a really smart and patient helper.

Medicare is much better than Medicaid. There is a form of Medicaid that helps with Medicare Premiums, copays and deductibles and the cost of prescription meds, if you meet the income and resource crteria. As well as I remember based on what you have said here in posts you should meet the criteria, but I can't promise it.. I have put a link below. to that info.

I'm actually not eligible for Medicaid anymore, since my higher income on SSDI puts me over the limit.
At first, I was pretty intimidated, but with the help of this person, I am on the right track, I think.

I know what you mean Marian. If only just getting disability would give me my concentration and energy. But maybe I can get to some doctors who can help me more.
Ann, I think that the weight of waiting for the decision being gone will help your concentration some. And of course having that income will be a huge help which will reduce some of your stress. The quality of drs in Medicare are usually better than those in Medicaid. I'm glad you have someone helping you in the state you live in. The people that do that work really do want to help.
