HUGS from down south :)
Do you have a social service or county help in your area that could help you while applying for SS and retirement ? If you get denied from SS I would talk to a diability attorney asap. They do not charge you unless they get your case through.
Not sure about the car battery maybe the battery is low on water ... or the cables on the battery are not tight and causing it to loose a charge ? I had those problems with mine fixed the problems and once got it charged back up it worked good.
I understand your not wanting to live in your home or being able to afford to and think that was wrong that they foreclosed when they had a buyer. My SIL home went to foreclosure and the real estate had a buyer so they still received the extra money from the sale of their home. Because it was in foreclosure did not get as much but they still got the extra that was left over. The real estate outfit worked it out for them.
When my husband passed away I found myself in a similar situation where could not afford the payments and put it up for sale but went into foreclosure while waiting..but sold it before the foreclosure was final .. in my case it cost me $6000. to reverse the foreclosure when it was sold but did not loose everything.. In my case I contacted them and worked it out with them at the point of sale.
I just think the real estate outfit you had should of been able to help you with that if the buyer was in place before the foreclosure was finalized. So sorry that happened to you.
In my thoughts and prayers ..
Take care gentle hugs
My kids aren't able to help me at this time because they both have their own financial struggles. They do invite me over to eat with them and that is a blessing. Do any of you know what kind of financial aid I could try to get besides food stamps? I don't want to have to do this but I may have to. I know there are people out there that need it more than I do...but I don't know what else to do. And I'm just not sure what is available to apply for. I guess I need to downsize and get rid of the internet and a few other things that I don't really need... I am a teacher and can also apply for retirement disability so I will be doing that next week. Those of you that had some ideas for me, I will definitely consider each of them. Thank you so much for your prayers!! I know God is trying to teach me some things through all this. I hope I learn the lessons well and can be used for His glory...
God bless you!
Jeannie
Please don't get rid of your internet. This forum has been a life saver for me and it can be for you too.
I am so sorry about all of your losses. I have been having a pity party the past 4 months because of finding out all my illnesses but they are nothing compared to what you are going through. Please let God wrap His arms around you when you ache for a hug and let Him lift you from under your arms when you need help getting by.
There are probably churchs with food pantries in the area. You can check into that. Our church has one and it helps a lot of families and has helped me and my family at times.
I really do hope you stay with this group. You won't find a more understanding group of people.
Hugs - Ter

I Too downsized, when I becane seriously Sick, I had no choice but to work as I was alone, with No Help at all...so I got rid of everything I could, did it for many reasons, and was down to bare necessities..in the interim I found this Great sense of Peace...was a bit Odd...but everything seemed then to be where it should be...
I did not however get rid of my Internet.,.I should have, but was my One Connection to those I could Relate to..so I kept it, scaled back in other areas big time.
I Hope you find your new place within this Life... filled with Peace...Your Husband may have thought he found his place of Peace...but all Suicide really does is put your Pain Squarely on the Shoulders of those who Love you...can be a very Selfish Act...yet very Sad, Tragic..Cannot say I have not had the thought myself.
I have no idea about Programs...I Just wanted to Hug you...welcome you into our Group...you will Find Support and Friendships here...and Hopefully some real ideas on how to get thru this Financially, Emotionally...Hard times are rarely Good times..but they are times we find the most rewarding things in Life...
Hugs
My family went through something similar to yours. Not to suicide, but to another disease that did the same. No matter how you look at it, they are gone and we are left to deal with it all.
It is overwhelming. And it is at these moments we need to pull together. I saw how having the family/ friends there for you now and us here will help with that.
I'm here to let you know that after 13+ years you can make it. It's amazing looking back that it's been that long now. But you can do it.
I was the kid (young adult) in our family story. I was the one there that morning Dad died along with my mom. My mom fell apart for that first year. She shut down. Lost her job, and we lived on the little insurance money there was. That was gone in a year. I was working at the time, so I was pulling my part. I took on a second job to help pull some more.
During that first year, the roof started leaking. We had to have friends, cousins and others who came to help support us and help put a roof over our heads again. It was humbling to say the least, but what I learned that summer after dad died, is how people pulled together to help the survivors make it.
I learned what family is about.
My Dad was also rebuilding a 23 bucket T. His dream car. It took him 7 years to rebuild that thing. Making parts to make parts. My mom finished it, but the high performance clutch that was installed in it made it almost impossible to drive it. Only my uncle and brother were the ones who could drive it as you nearly had to stand up to push it in. And to install another one, we would have lost all of engine and headers. It would have wrecked the beauty of Dad's dream. So, sadly a year after the car was finished, we had to sell it. It was just collecting dust and it was taking up the garage.
You can survive this sweetie. I know your plate is overflowing. My mom's was too. A year after dad died, she was dx with stage 4 non hodgekins lymphoma. We were facing an uncertain future so shortly after dad passing away. But my mom had to lay down her pride and allow us to help her. She had to allow friends to help. There was even a winter where a church delivered food to us as things were so tight.
Through tragedy we all seem to walk a very similar path. But along that path we find the beauty if our friends and family. We find that they make the obstacles easier to bear. They protect us from the harm that may be out there and they are there to cheer us on as we approach the garden that is at the end.
I'm here to tell you about our survival story. It's amazing how 13 yrs have traveled so quickly, but I know that there are many more years to come. And as we approach the new obstacles on our path, I look forward knowing that we have family and friends to help guide us along each step of the way.
But even more so. God is with us. God is what keeps you standing on your feet. He is so proud of you for making it Sweetie. I know this with out a doubt. And I know you know this too.
My prayers for strength, courage and grace are on their way for you and your family.
I know you can do this. And you too will be looking back after 13 yrs and helping someone else.
Gentle hugs...
