I've started seeing a pain specialist and his office seems very incompetent. I've shown up for appointments only to discover I was not in his schedule. Once I even went to an appointment to find that he was on vacation in Paris - his staff claimed they called me to reschedule the appointment.
When he writes me a prescription for my pain he doesn't give me enough pills to actually make it to my next appointment with him. Furthermore, the instructions on the prescription/bottle often conflict with the instructions he gave me in the office.
He told me to take Nucynta - 2 pills up to 4 times per day.
The prescription said to take 2 pills 2 times per day.
He only gave me 60 tablets, which left me enough for 7 days.
I wasn't supposed to see him for 3 weeks.
This isn't the first time this has happened. I called the office about it and, though the nurse squeezed me in for a Monday appointment, she told me that I have to check that the prescription is accurate before leaving the office, and if this happens again I need to find a new doctor!
Does this seem right to you? This nurse is always rude to me and I don't understand why. I'm not used to being treated like I'm irresponsible, careless, or undeserving of respect.

Well..my thyroid might be a problem. I have a high TSH but normal T4. TSH increases when your thyroid isn't producing enough thyroid hormones...if only the TSH is high, it could be early or subclinical. I've only ever had one mistake on a script in over 50 years. I always review my scripts before I leave the office to make sure that they are correct.
Find someone else to take over your care.

When you "fire" him if he asks why, I'd let him know about that crabby nurse, too. He may be so oblivious he doesn't even know how bad his front office staff is. Good luck.
Please, find someone else. As for pain meds....can your family doctor not help you out??.......That is if you have one.
I also would consider reporting this to the College of Physicians and Surgeons if you feel up to that.
