A system for the treatment of disease by minute doses of natural substances that in a healthy person would produce symptoms of disease.
So, it uses small amounts of toxins.
I fi nd it scary.
I might suggest that if you are any RX meds that you check with your pharmacist about anything you ingest just to be safe. There are lots of herbs that have not been studied and we do not know how they chemically react with RX meds. Never hurts to call the pharmacist, they are great resources and you get a free consultation :)
Flu shots and vaccines are kinda sorta similar. They contain Minute doses of germs.
But Homeopathy doesn't use germs but it may use something that is considered toxic in large dose but in homeopathy it is diluted to such a minute strength it is not toxic. This is as far as my knowledge anyway.
Luna,
I personally don't think there is anything to be scared of. It's Been used for decades. And Helps thousands of people.
It's a controversial topic not because of safety. It's Far safer than taking the prescribed crap we are given.
But Some people think it's a bunch of baloney and feel these homeopathic medicine makers are making a ton of money and it's a rip off. Now other people like myself think homeopathy has credibility and works.
Some say it's the placebo effect but others do not think that as animals are treated with homeopathy. They have no clue what they are ingesting and they heal.
I use homeopathy for some things. I actually forget to take
Arnica.
Arnica is helpful for muscle aches and pains. I haven't really explored homeopathy enough for fibromyalgia symptoms though but I would think Arnica would be part of the treatment. I think I'll diligently start taking the Arnica I have and see if it helps with the muscle pain. I'm sure I've used it before and it helped.
I have too much going on and I forget sometimes or I run out and can't afford things.
You know how it goes. Lol
I think it would be beneficial to see a person who is educated in homeopathy rather than treating self if one can afford to otherwise
I go to
ABC homeopathy website. Very helpful to narrow down what kind of treatment needed for the ailment.
I am currently taking sulphur which is a homeopathic remedy for excema. It seems to be helping the rashes I have.
Sulphur is good for arthritis pain too.
I think with like anything else which is deemed natural and safe. It is good to do your homework. Weigh up the pros and cons IF there are any.
Be aware of any possible interactions with other things you may consume. Some things are Not to be taken if pregnant or breast feeding or taking certain prescribed medications. Seek professional opinion if you feel inclined.
Definition
Homeopathy, or homeopathic medicine, is a holistic system of treatment that originated in the late eighteenth century. The name homeopathy is derived from two Greek words that mean "like disease." The system is based on the idea that substances that produce symptoms of sickness in healthy people will have a curative effect when given in very dilute quantities to sick people who exhibit those same symptoms. Homeopathic remedies are believed to stimulate the body's own healing processes. Homeopaths use the term "allopathy," or "different than disease," to describe the use of drugs used in conventional medicine to oppose or counteract the symptom being treated.
HISTORY
Homeopathy was founded by German physician Samuel Hahnemann (17551843), who was much disturbed by the medical system of his time, believing that its cures were crude and some of its strong drugs and treatments did more harm than good to patients. (Hmmm. sounds very similar to our current system)
In the early 1900s, homeopathy was popular in America, with over 15 percent of all doctors being homeopathic. There were 22 major homeopathic medical schools, including Boston University and the University of Michigan. However, with the formation of the American Medical Association, which restricted and closed down alternative practices, homeopathy declined for half a century. When the 1960s invigorated back-to-nature trends and distrust of artificial drugs and treatments, homeopathy began to grow again dramatically through the next decades. In 1993, The New England Journal of Medicine reported that 2.5 million Americans used homeopathic remedies and 800,000 patients visited homeopaths in 1990, and it has continued to grow. Homeopathy is much more popular in Europe than in the United States. French pharmacies are required to make homeopathic remedies available along with conventional medications. Homeopathic hospitals and clinics are part of the national health system in Britain. It is also practiced in India and Israel, among other countries.
In conclusion, Homeopathic medicine is VERY safe. My doctor is an integrative medical doctor (one whom uses conventional and natural medicine). The program that she has me on to treat my fibromyalgia is all natural and I have had great success using integrative medicine. One of my medications that I use for sleep, Calms Forte is a homeopathic medicine. It is used to help with calmness and sleep. I take it nighty and it works without any groggy or hung over feeling the next day. I have read posts of others on here who use Calms Forte also.
I have used integrative medicine since I received my diagnosis of fibromyalgia and it has gotten me from practically bedridden with daily pain levels of 8-10, to daily discomfort fluctuating between 3-5 with the exception of flares. Last year this time I couldn't even dream of working out, but today I can jog in a pool for 35-40 minutes.
Best Wishes to you.

Even Calmes Forte, while advertised as a homeopathic remedy, does not fit the definition but it would be naturopathic.
Read the difference and the associated confusion here and you decide. http://karunahealthcare.com.au/index.php?page=what-s-the-difference-between-homeopathy-and-naturopathy
For pain:
Rhus Toxidendron
Byronia
Causticum- I've been using this lately. It helps with nerve pain.
For sleep:
Gelsenium
Argentum Nitricum
Coffee Cruda
It is between $5 to $7 a remedy. I usually use the 30C dose. All you have to do is try it and see if it works. I wouldn't give up on the first thing you try though. Often if one thing doesn't work, another might. If it doesn't work, you are out 20 bucks.
There is medical research that has been positive on this particularly in the Lancet and the National Institute of Health. I've written before I look at this as energy medicine which would more like acupuncture or Chi Gong. For those of you with a scientific bent, a physicist proposed a theory based on quantum entanglement.
I'm thinking that one of the reasons I'm having trouble with my health care now is that I have done so well with treating myself with homeopathy that doctors don't believe anything was wrong with me in the first place. In the meantime, until I find a decent health care I've been keeping myself afloat with homeopathy. It hasn't "cured," me, but it has been a huge help. Thank God.
