Has anyone switched from Lyrica to Gabapentin (Neurontin)? Just found out that my insurance will only cover the Lyrica through mail-order but that takes about 10 days after they get the script from doctor...which they just did today. I don't think that I have enough Lyrica currently to cover until I receive the new script. The woman at the insurance company said that they would cover Gabapentin through retail Px though and I'm wondering if I should try to switch so that I can get 1 month from Kroger and then 3 month from mail-order...my only question is what is the difference. Has anyone been on both and which was better for them?
Just a reminder that my dx is Fibro, CFS, Bipolar II, etc...
Thanks my awesome Fibro Warriors and I appreciate any feedback!

Honestly, it would be hard to say if Gabapentin would work as well as Lyrica for you. We are all different and what works for you may be a disaster for me. I hope that you can get this worked out. Take care.
Drug companies make small changes in generic drugs in order to make more money. Then they indoctrinate the doctors. I have gone off of gabapentin cold turkey without any problem, but maybe the doses were not comparable. I prefer older drugs, just because all the side effects are know and understood.
My guess is that you could probably switch from Lyrica to gabapentin without much of a problem, but other people may have personal experience. I haven't taken Lyrica.
